I thought it was more about Sydney management trying to install a host more known in Sydney onto the public. If I remember rightly then 10 News Chief Carmel Travers signed off on it.
Perhaps Hinch’s ratings weren’t as strong in Sydney as they would have liked or him or his show was seen as “too Melbourne".
yes I think it was Ms Travers’ pet project. I don’t think her tenure at Ten was too well remembered by other colleagues, either. I suspect she ruffled a lot of feathers.
Personally I think 10 needs to find someone like Hinch to draw an audience. But that said the journalism needs to match the shows host.
When Hinch went to 10 (NRTV) from 7 (Prime) my family watched him, then when Ray Martin moved to ACA and Hinch went to Midday, my family then started watching A Current Affair.
I’d say December of 1986. Perfect Match looks to be a repeat as the copyright date is 1984 and weekday fill in presenters Ron & Ann during the off ratings Christmas break. Saying that, Neighbours still on air with its final episode for the year going to air on December 5th.
Judging by the programming line-up and cross referencing with the TV guide from the old SMH archives, the date of the above recording, at least the first Ten portion of it, was on Tuesday 18th November 1986.
