Deal seemed to be running normally, but I missed the end of it…
The big issue is it’s now severely impacting 10’s primetime schedule and program quality. MasterChef this year was the perfect example of that with it being entirely based in the MC kitchen.

Only 1 new episode of deal at 6:30 in the week commencing 6 Sept. Cupboard must really be bare.
And scheduled the same night as the jackpot special. 
I know everyone’s been saying for like 15 years that 10 is dying and dismal etc etc but I’ve never seen the network in this bad a of a state.
More people are talking about their new drama on Paramount Plus (I’ve even seen promos on 9 during the NRL last night) than they are anything that’s on 10.
They probably should invest more local content there. Nobody is going to return to 10. It’s just too late. Go where the audience is. Viewers are clearly happy to watch Australian drama on streaming.
The F Ward was massive for Stan I believe and Dalliance seems to be getting a lot of attention and of course the new Australian drama on Netflix that was released last week. There is also High Country on Binge coming soon and also Wentworth spin off.

Yikes. Not a good look for Deal or No Deal. Four repeats for the week shouldn’t happen… until the Summer period when “no one will notice”.
10 need a serious rethink for the 6-7pm hour for 2027 - a topic which has featured heavily on this topic.
Agree that 10 needs to readdress the local drama area. 10 had some success this century with Offspring and Rush, but dropped the ball when they gave up on Neighbours. And shafted The Imposter at Christmas time i(nine months ago).
10 needs to invest (or co-invest with Paramount+) with Drama again, and do it properly. There is an audience out there with Home and Away on Seven, and some on streaming sites.

It’s always had an audience though. The show has been around for 38 years. If it launched in January 2026 it wouldn’t be here now.
I really wouldn’t bother with launching drama on 10. Viewers are clearly finding Australian drama on Paramount Plus. Invest more there and they’ll find more success, especially with the streamer being global.

The problem with the 5pm til 7:30pm block is that 10 continues to be too scared to deviate from what has to a mild degree works. Different suggestions have been placed on mediaspy forums, which the 5pm til 6:30pm news block goes ok.
The consensus is, 10 will never be number 1 or number 2 in any of the 5pm til 7:30pm slots and given the decreasing numbers watching terrestrial television, I think 10 accepts low numbers are to be expected.
I believe the only way 10 might be able to have a win of sorts would be to screen a 1 hour game show like Who Wants To Be A Millionaire at 5:30 to distract viewers from turning over at 6pm. However, with having Millionaire Hot Seat at 7pm, it would be overkill of the same concept.
You seriously only have to go back 2 years ago, DOND was pulling up to 350k at 6pm, with Project high 300s earlier in the week
The biggest mistake they made was commissioning News+, second was putting it right after 5pm news and Moving DOND.

Your example of Deal Or No Deal pulling 300000+ figures is why I mentioned a 1 hour game show at 5:30pm. Often after a network has made the mistake of moving a show or changing something, the damage is done.
But why not do both? Why can’t you have it on 10 and Paramount+ same day?
How do we know these shows are a success on Paramount+ anyway? They never release figures on streaming numbers. Plus, what is considered a “success” on streaming service might be low numbers anyway and could be less than what shows rate on FTA. We just don’t know. Why not maximise your viewership by putting it on 10 too?
And Paramount+ has a shit track record at keeping Australian dramas on the streaming service. At least Stan has every drama it has ever produced still on there for new subscribers to discover. Paramount+ has dropped shows like Spreadsheet and they can’t be found anywhere any more. Other shows like Paper Dolls, One Night and More Than This went to other streaming services like Netflix and the ABC.

There must a reason as to why they don’t. They would have thought about doing that and decided against it.
I wonder if it has something to do with different departments, budgets, commissions etc. For all we know 10 and Paramount Plus are different divisions and the Paramount Plus team support local scripted content and have the budget for it and maybe 10 FTA don’t?
If viewers know that it would eventually come to 10 there would be no compelling reason to subscribe to P+. Probably a simplistic reason but not many other reasons why they don’t air across both.
The point above about shows disappearing and then appearing on other services is correct.. just plain strange stuff. You’d think they’d hold onto it forever.
