Ten News First Content and Appearance (2015-Sept 2020)

Similar to your “local breakfast shows concept”, I’ve really liked the idea of what Paul Henry went on to do when he went back to NZ, now its called The Am Show. Radio, TV, Online - all together.
Take that idea and partner with a well established radio network that has a basis in each market and adjusting it for TV.
So, for example, take the Australian Radio Network (WSFM, GOLD, etc) - Amanda Keller is already a Ten personality and is on WSFM in Sydney. Move the broadcast to a TV studio, add some graphics and you’ve got yourself a cross-platform breakfast show.

It has been a while, so here is a look at Ten News Perth:

Same old boring playon angles tonight… Don’t know why Ten do this occasionally. Miss the different angles.

I loved when they used to use the crane shots flying down to set level. Love it when they show off the whole atrium.

I would love to see the late news style studio with just the 4x4 video walling to the side as the new set look for Sydney as they gave the amazing newsroom space.

Tonight’s Media Watch had a story in which Ten’s national weekend news is being delayed into Perth in contrast to Seven & Nine’s live & local news services.

This should be one of the first things that should be implemented in the new year. Perth deserves a live bulletin on weekends.

Personally, I would’ve thought that all five metropolitan markets deserve a live, local news bulletin from Ten on weekends just as the case is on weeknights.

All markets deserve a live and local bulletin every day of the week.

I agree… but for Perth to be 3 hours behind, I think their case is more warranted at the moment.

Start with live and local from Perth, then slowly work towards the east coast.
Perth > Adelaide > Brisbane > Sydney/Melb etc

And not hard to do, IMO. Obviously poach key talent from Seven/Nine is ideal, but for now, just get the understudies to do local weekend editions.
Here’s a suggestion, with news, sport, weather respectively:

Brisbane- Lachlan Kennedy, Veronica Eggleton, Kristina Kostalos
Sydney- *** The current national team
Melbourne- Candice Wyatt, Caty Price/Rob Waters, Yasmin Paton
Adelaide- Alan Murrell, Brett Clappis
Perth- Clare Graham, Tim Hipsley (get him back), Rebecca Munro

The presenters would do presenting on weekends and report 3 days during the weekday. I think it is a good first step, plus the best next expansion move.

I am not sure if it has been mentioned, but weekdays, Ten has more of the market share at 5pm than Nine in Adelaide and Perth, so worth the investment.

Also on many weekends - Ten News ratings in Perth on Sunday were 47,000 compared to even Seven News at 5 on with 26,000 - also won on Saturday.

On a weekend, does any significant news happen between 2 and 5pm WA time to warrant a bullitwn just for WA?

Obviously, the latest sets of job and budget cuts that began three and a half years ago caused this casualty; thus, the news department should be one of CBS’ top priorities for Ten.

Just FYI, Claire Grantham doesn’t work for Ten anymore. She left some time ago

some days Perth do get a specialised edition of Ten News Perth, however its very limited. Which includes news & sport. This is due to Supercars broadcasts. Its all done from Sydney

If Nine and Seven thinks WA is warranted a local weekend bulletin, so should TEN.

After many hours, the news from Sydney becomes as old as stale bread.
