Two price comparisons on breakfast TV this morning. Sunrise comparing items that might be used at a BBQ (Australia Day) with a strap suggesting prices are up 25% - but the comparison is to 2022 for some reason.
Today has a somewhat premature price comparison for Easter chocolates. ANd the comparison is to 2 years ago. How do they know what the prices will be at Easter?
Woolworths had bunnies and egg bags out today, so likely starting to creep out across retailers. Shorter run to Easter so expect the all out over the next fortnight.
Price of Cocoa was fairly high for most of last year when the manufacturers would be purchasing for this years Easter, so expect pricing to be high for the remainder of the year. Typically Easter chocolates are manufactured between September to November and dispatched from DCs in December.
Iâd be buying any Easter Chocolates in the last 10 days when pricing promotions will be high. Funding for promotions with Cadbury seems to be around the 30% mark.

Woolworths and BIGW both have a shared office in Hong Kong (from memory over in Kowloon) which is largely sourcing and commercial, no surprises that they formed relationships with other retailers.
The relationship in this case goes back a while as the company selling these goods has ties to Woolworths from an investment side of things going back a few decades, they previously had a share in the NZ supermarket business from memory.
Donât see whatâs hilarious about that.
As a diabetic, itâs like hell on earth. All the chocolate and you canât eat it, lest your BGL spikes. Thereâs sugar free stuff but it doesnât taste as good.

Look into Keto, I know someone who reversed it early on and doesnât have that or high blood pressure anymore.

The ACCC has raised concerns that Ampolâs acquisition of 500 service stations from EG could âsubstantially lessen competitionâ in the petrol and diesel space in several markets. As a result, it has decided not to approve the acquisition in its phase 1 assessment and will instead move to a phase 2 review.
Whatâs the story with Bunnings and self serve? I have not seen them in operation for months, I asked the register person today and said they last used them for a few peak days in December.
