Yes! We have no bananas, we have no bananas today.
Orange has the same problem. No bananas ![]()
Same. Not a single one at my regular Aldi shop haha
Not good, not different ![]()
Has everyone just brought monkeys and are feeding them only bananas? ![]()
Maybe Triple M have resigned Barry and that’s his preferred currency?!
I doubt we’ll see Costco go into locations below 100,000 population catchments in the near term, unless they adopt an approach that allows them to build smaller facilities.
The GFA for a Costco in Australia is huge (compared to other retail) at > 15,000m2; the closest single-tenant retailer in Australia is Bunnings. That has significant economic impacts (on a GFA comparison, one Costco can be the equivalent of 3 or 4 Coles/Woolworths) so it’s questionable whether it’s sustainable in locations below 100,000 people.
Not to mention that the size brings its own challenges - land is unlikely to be readily available and appropriately zoned to support a warehouse site - which adds significant time to delivering new sites, let alone getting development approval (which in some states is likely to trigger regional or state significant requirements)
I’d also say they’re looking for areas with a growing population. My nearest is Marsden Park, which is 5 minutes away - that area is growing. It’s always pretty busy, especially at weekends.
I noted The Reject Shop had its Dollarama H/Ween and Xmas stock out. Aside from that I didn’t see much else in there that was Rama branded. I sort of still don’t understand the whole pull TRS has. Walked out thinking I can get all this at Kmart/BIGW/WowColes for better quality and cheaper.
Simple - people like stuff cheap. People don’t give a crap where it comes from, as long as it’s cheap.
Possible future Costco locations:
NSW: Wollongong, Central Coast, Albury, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Wagga Wagga
VIC: Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo
QLD: Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville, Cairns
WA: Mandurah, Bunbury
NT: Darwin
TAS: Hobart, Launceston
Yikes
Actually, The reject shop/Dollarama has a lot of random stuff that is either cheaper or the same price as all of these.
I’ll bite, what’s wrong with Marsden Park? Aside from the traffic and Richmond Road.
Reject shop also seems to have stuff thats in superceeded packaging that would only clog up a supermarket shelf, ours has a lot of well priced dishwasher tablets etc.
Reject Shop do a lot of parallel importing in the Grocery category so you will see supermarket products but in slightly different packaging.
What a boring ad probably should have used a proper advertising agency and get some actual results.
Innovations also closing on 15th November (same day as TVSN).
Direct Group has therefore made the difficult decision that Innovations intends to close on the 15th of November, or earlier if stock sells out.
