I visited the renovated store this afternoon. It now takes up two-thirds of the original store, meaning the product range has also shrunk a bit. The manual checkout has been replaced by self-service checkouts which accept only debit and credit cards.

They say the Heidelberg site could be of interest to other supermarkets, and it is in a prime position, but with Woolies recently rebuilt nearby (and a new store under construction in neighbouring Rosanna) and Coles and Aldi close by it is unclear who might be interested in the Leo’s site. Might be a bit ambitious for IGA.

Woolworths will close its MyDeal subsidiary. I’m not sold on its HealthyLife subsidiary also, let’s see where that goes.

Kmart I understand are launching Marketplace around the time MyDeal is closing.

Doesn’t Woolworths have an online marketplace now anyway that is run via its website? If this is still going, then I can see why they did this.

Mydeal did have a warehouse with its own stock also, similar to catch. Seems like the owners are getting a nice payout and Woolworths is wearing this cost.

Am I the only one fed up with these websites trying to be little Amazons?

When I search the Bunnings site I want to see where something is in store, not get 500 things I can’t actually buy there. Same for Big W or JB.

The Woolworths website is unusable nowadays because of this.

I reckon they wont stop unless we have this across all retail.

Don’t know if you remember the old “The Store” retail outlets they used to have in Newcastle. Going back to the 1970s-80s here.

This was the best logo I could find, from the car park in the old Pink Elephant market building / car park in Hunter St Newcastle West.

I remember The Store. Con Constantine owned it.

The Store used to be the Co-Op.

ASX-listed Motorcycle Holdings announced on late Friday afternoon that it would buy seven of 15 Peter Stevens dealerships. Joe Rascal Group would buy three Harley Heaven dealerships in Melbourne and Peter Stevens Ducati South Melbourne. The five remaining stores in Victoria and NSW (Peter Stevens Motorcycles stores in Geelong, Ringwood and Blacktown, the Harley Heaven Blacktown and the Melbourne City Triumph) will close, as no offers were received.

Melbourne’s Hill of Content bookshop temporarily closed its doors yesterday afternoon, ahead of its relocation up Bourke Street. Over the next couple of weeks, the bookshop will use a human chain to move thousands of books to the new location of 32 Bourke Street, opposite the tram stop and next door to Le Meridien hotel.

That’s disappointing. Scan & Go is the only reason I go to my local Woolworths, it’s so much quicker. Now I’ll just go to Coles, as I prefer them. It was good while it lasted. :man_shrugging:

Time Zone and “Zone Bowling” opened this past week at Westfield Knox in Victoria. That explains why part of the upper level was closed off the last little while. I don’t go there often enough to pay attention (in saying that I’ve been 3 times over the last 6 or so weeks haha).

Changes the dynamic of the shopping centre to a degree, I’m aware they play loud music at the arcade - but it creates a different vibe “indoors” rather than being on the outside area. And with late night finishes on weeknights + later on weekends… hopefully they have security guarding the place!

Zone bowling closed at Knox around 2018… so good to see them back.

In terms of the vibe - I think they’ve done well to keep life in the centre after Myer left. That whole
Upper left was pretty much dead after a bunch of stores left / moved elsewhere.
