This doesn’t surprise me. I was actually in Myer yesterday, and I saw one staff member overseeing the whole makeup and perfume section, no wonder people are stealing.
My great grandma was the manager of the first Grace Brothers store in Broadway, and a lot of my family worked there at the time, so I’ve always had a soft spot for Myer and love going in there. It’s such a shame it’s a completely different shopping experience these days.
I went in at one point with my wife. we had a family wedding coming up and she needed a nice dress. she found one she liked but trying to get the change room unlocked was such a mission we gave up
Two new weekly markets will open at Taylor Square later this year, as the City of Sydney continues its efforts to revive Oxford Street.
The council has selected Organic Food Markets – the operator of several Sydney markets, including those at Marrickville and Kings Cross – to run markets on Friday nights and Saturday mornings, in an attempt to bring more foot traffic to the northern end of the Darlinghurst lot.
A $28.7 million expansion of Southgate Shopping Centre at Sylvania has begun with a relocation of centre management to the basement car park and new amenities currently being built on the ground level.
Continuing work will see adjoining former squash courts at Melrose Avenue demolished and a three-level extension to the shopping centre constructed.
A partial reconfiguration of Kmart will incorporate a relocated Woolworths Supermarket which extends into the newly constructed area along Melrose Avenue. At roof level, the plan involves extending the car park, installing lifts and providing a new direct to boot car parking facility and storeroom.
The existing Woolworths site will be taken over by a new Aldi in 2027.
Finally, Southgate at Sylvania gets a much needed upgrade. Interesting that there will be now 3 supermarkets there - the existing Coles, a relocated Woolies and a new Aldi.
I hope they fix the outdoor car park - the area between the Maccas, the pub and the shopping centre main entrance. I’ve seen many near misses there.
Middle Eastern grocery giant LuLu Hypermarket has been invited by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to set up shop down under and challenge the effective duopoly of Coles and Woolworths.
Speaking of Kmart - another (w)Anko fail I’ve noticed.
I am going home to see family this weekend, and my niece wanted me to get her the $6.50 tripod for her art projects and so on. And being the nice uncle I am, I said I would - nearest Kmart is 90 minutes either way. And what’s $6.50?
Well…I open up the pack, and the tripod is missing various bit and pieces that makes the tripod work - like the phone holder and connectors. Quality control doesn’t seem to be a big concern at the factory now does it? Fortunately, it is only $6.50, but still…
