This is hilarious.
Watch until the end.

I wasn’t watching earlier but was there a reason why a dog was wandering around the set behind the hosts when they had a wide shot at the desk?

I don’t understand why a program like Sunrise spends so much time promoting Squid Game on Netflix with their weather crosses. Why are the free to air programs promoting so many shows on streaming services which are obviously their competition, cutting into their revenue and slowly putting them out of business?

If they are desperate for a revenue boost to promote any show, Sunrise might as well start promoting MAFS and I’m A Celeb next.

I don’t disagree with you, but I think it’s just easy content and it’s what people are talking about.

They did a similar thing running the trailer of Netflix’s ‘top three new shows for 2025’ on repeat the other day. I think it was run at the end of the ‘news’. I thought it was an odd editorial decision given it has no commercial benefit for them.

Are you assuming netflix is not paying for these spots?

What if Nine or Ten paid to have MAFS or I’m A Celeb promoted? Is that OK too?

Yeah. Media Watch raised concerns with Seven not disclosing a commercial interest with Samsung, Apple or Maccas or something last year and Seven’s response was that it wasn’t a paid spot so they did nothing wrong. So, while they have commercial interests with Coles or Qantas, evidently that isn’t always the case. I don’t see Netflix paying an Australian breakfast show. But, if they were paid spots, they are encouraging their viewers to go to alternative mediums. That is an odd choice.

Maccas featured on this morning’s show briefly.

They need to talk about Netflix/Stan/Disney as that is where viewers are getting a lot of their entertainment from so its of interest.

Stan advertise on 7. I dont think it’s out of the question that Netflix would be too.

Either paid or unpaid - I assume someone in the netflix marketing team is driving this.

They aren’t a direct competitor though so its not the same. Yes Netflix have advertising (although minimal) but likely Netflix are paying big $$$ for the promotion.

Also, I’m pretty sure wasn’t one of the FTA networks advertising on Foxtel or another network at some point?

May not be ‘paid’ but good faith to help secure high profile interviews down the track

As Canberra correspondent, I thought Isabelle Mullen was average. This week she has really shown her versatility- from the Golden Globes red carpet to the LA fires today. She’s been great on the ground this morning.

While she may only be filling in at this stage (as is normal during the Christmas/New Year period, when reporters from metro markets are sometimes parachuted into the US/Europe bureaus), I could see her becoming a foreign correspondent sometime down the track.

Similar to how Mylee Hogan had a few short stints Stateside before officially becoming US correspondent not very long ago.
