But she has a radio gig next year on Triple M

Yes! We got that in Melbourne too. Odd.

GMB doesn’t run on the weekends, though… Sunrise and Today do. I guess that’s the trade-off.

(Actually I’m quite surprised ITV have never tried a weekend GMB… I think maybe they did it once, the weekend after the Queen died? I can only imagine they think, for whatever reason, it’s just not worth it. It’s always been kids’ shows and more recently, cooking or chat shows at the weekend.)

UK doesn’t really do weekend news at all. Even BBC etc only have 15min bulletins on Saturdays and Sundays and at random times.

Yes, that is odd. Most everywhere else does at least the main bulletin at the same time 7 days a week, and weekend editions aren’t much shorter (if at all) than on weekdays. I think it stems from the main bulletins on BBC/ITV always being on at 9 or 10pm. Presumably they were always wary of having that fixed slot on the weekends eating into the entertainment shows.

Weekend Sunrise’s look back at 2024

Monday (30.12.2024)- Friday (03.01.2025): Eddy and David Woiwod are hosting again this week. Teegan Dolling on news and still no one filling in on sport.

Georgia Costi doing the weather. I wished they used JT more often. All the other weather fill-ins are quite annoying.

He can’t work every day of the year. Apart from Weekend, he also has other commitments like The Great Outdoors.

Sunrise had a Stars Lost in 2024 segment this morning.

TBH I’ve ditched most my news viewing but I do much prefer the short weekend bulletins that get to the point over the 30 or 60 minute weekend editions that drag things out.

Weekend breakfast wise historically the focus was on a political slot on the Sunday, which ITV had during the TV-am and early GMTV years but it vanished over time. I guess part of the reason the main shows never went 7 days a week is originally the breakfast slot was considered a separate channel and they had to provide a certain quote of childrens shows which meant they had to dedicate the weekend slots mainly to that.

Yeah but they all went to sub channels as well. ITV prefer light cooking or chat shows. Mostly recorded cheap shit.

Today did the same thing for the year in review

Sunrise devoted a LOT of time to revellers lining up for the Sydney fireworks this morning.

The crosses were quite good and Sam Payne is great (assume he is a Sydney reporter?) however i noticed the extensive time on the live reports.

Sam Payne is from the Gold Coast. They usually do weather from Sydney on NYE eve/ NYE day so maybe as just a report it felt more disproportionate than usual? They do focus more on Sydney in general.

Working reporters this morning (seem to be a lot from QLD)

Hot Topics: why is Sunrise relying on “new forecasts from the coalition” for information re the economy.
Eddy did later clarify that economists say neither side of politics have a plan.

Sunrise was the only breakfast show with a local reporter in New Orleans this morning.

They also used the US bureau and “experts” for coverage.

Time to take down the Christmas decorations though that look out of place when reporting these type of stories. Today’s were gone last Saturday.

Why is Isabelle smiling? A very overrated reporter
