Thought I must’ve imagined it.
Pretty sure Shirvo introduced it as something like, “on what would have been her 76th birthday.”
Now just caught the end of a TMS promo for next week and I think they’re running a story … maybe the same one.
She’s part of the Sport coverage tomorrow for some reason.
Saturday 28/9/24:
AFL Grand Final Day
Beretts with Mon and Matt today from the MCG.
Edit: Karina Carvalho and Nick McCallum on Hot Topics at the MCG.
New (I’ve never seen her before) Brisbane reporter, Nats Levi, is at Southbank is Brisbane. She seems like she is full of energy. A good addition.
And a kiwi.
Thought there was a slight accent there.
You’d think they could update their opener from “the finals” to “grand final day”…
According to her LinkedIn profie, Nats (or Natalee) is chief of staff at 7News Brisbane. Last worked at TVNZ in Auckland. She is also involved in the fitness industry.
More Head Office staff at Seven reporting on air? Things must be incredibly dire.
It’s actually quite common. Either to cover shifts or to mix it up a bit. Happens all the time in radio newsrooms.
It’s more common that a COS would jump in to voice a package or do a simple studio cross. It’s far less common they would do a morning of crosses for a show outside their remit. So I think the “dire” remark holds up.
Could be that someone called in sick at the last minute, and they were already there as part of the local news coverage?
Rescheduled the ONJ segment from the other morning?
Someone could have called in sick and most others could have been on leave / not available. Things happen where the boss needs to jump in at times. I wouldn’t say “dire” is what I would call it. If you found her doing it for a week then maybe so.
As an example the COS of 3AW presents news bulletins and packages all the time.
Also given it’s GF day, and with the amount of coverage Seven is doing, would imagine it would be a “all hands on deck” situation.
Maybe she just wanted to do it?
Case of another OB the viewers seem not to like or too much AFL?
