7 had the footage of the actual moment before 9. And 9 went to commercials. 7 stayed with it.
Edit: This was the moment when I tuned in to see what was going on. As commented below 9 aired it first.

No they didn’t. Nine showed it straight away. 7 was talking about Rebel Wilson when they aired it.
Uhh no they didn’t. Today show had vision straight away. I flicked between the two. They went to a commercial after 15 minutes of covering it.
Maybe I was late to it… lol… but when I went to look to see what was going on 7 was covering it, 9 had commercials and then followed up with footage that was after the shots.
So I went back to 7.
Sunrise first report at 8:21.
Nine and ABC started at the same time 5 minutes earlier with non stop coverage after that.
9 was showing it for at least 10 minutes from roughly 8:10am before going to that commercial break you saw.
Again, maybe I was late to it.
But 9 was showing commercials when I tuned in.
Matt: “It’s difficult to overstate…It’s difficult to overstate…”
You’re doing a pretty good job Matt. God he’s sensationalist.
“In these situations, we have to make a lot of assumptions….”
At least he’s acknowledging they’re assumptions and not stating them as fact.
And you can imagine that in true “breaking news” situations lots of Adrenalin is running through the presenters as they make sense of information and keep the conversation going.
Eddy going back to recap for viewers just tuning in. Good move. On a Sunday morning lots of people would be slowly tuning in.
Not maybe, you were late to it because you were watching Sunrise
No need for nastiness. I was actually in the kitchen making breakfast.
And btw I’ll leave it on Sunrise for now, as Today has gone to commercials again.
Late or not, Matt and Eddy are doing an excelent job.
I’m surprised no one picked this up amidst the discussion.
‘US President’ - Looks like cost-cutting has hit the editing and proofreading department.
They were carrying on about Biden’s slip ups the other day. The amount of times this morning they have said “US President Trump”…
Well he was I guess and it’s easier than continually saying, “former president”. We all know what they mean.
No excuses here… ‘former president’ should be stated here.
I was watching the CNN coverage and they used former president. I agree with this. Not hard to say.
Probably. Rudd was also referred to as former President at one stage, but we know what they mean, they’re thinking as they speak and under pressure,
and it’s rolling coverage.
They’re human. You’ve never made an error with a name or title?
They’re not making Biden-scale errors I guess.
Still again, no excuses here. It comes across as lazy and amateurish to the average viewer. This shouldn’t be going to air during rolling coverage.
W Sunrise finished at 10:30am switching to coverage with Michael Usher with 7News branding.
