Sunrise (2020-Feb 2025)

This entire refresh feels like the successor of the 2010 look. Those shots look amazing. So fresh.

The only thing that would have added some depth is some ceiling set display hanging down.

Yeah but I mean there are only so many ideas to be had, only so many days you can have a curvy sun logo etc.

Is Sunrise Perth News still airing today since the move? I’d be keen to see how the new graphics are implemented in Perth.

Apologies for the phone photo but here it is

Thanks! I’m at the airport so limited to what I’ve been able to watch. Looks better than the old graphics!

i am a fan of the consistency between the normal 7 news graphics (although i hate that logo animation between the 7 and sunrise logo), and more so of the ticker returning.

that set is phenomenal, and i can’t wait to see what they accomplish with it along the years

pretty good relaunch, i must say

Love the set. The soft set looks magnificent.

The logo looks better on air than it did in the promo. Not so sure about the graphics yet.

Good show this morning, the new set and graphics package are great. My only initial gripe is how American it all looks, but I reckon it’s a suitable choice given it’s a rebrand. Love the graphics pattern behind Eddy, adds a sense of urgency to the news which is important.

Very nice graphics and a solid relaunch.

The 2021-2023 package lasted as long as the 2002-2004 and 2004-2006 look.

Wow, looks so different yet similar elements of course, a brand new era, it’s a nice refresh that’s for sure  Love that soft set most of all, more of that and less of the desk/wide studio for mine.

Those red Sunrise mics for reporters look very different too, in-line with the Seven Sport ones now, minus the wording and wonder if they’ll be WS ones (noticed WS Melbourne Reporter Kristy Mayr is still using an old 2010 one!)

Side comment: Dr Keith Suiter (Sunrise Foreign Affairs Editor) would have to be one of the longest-serving members, even though not ‘main’ talent! Been on the show for as long as I can remember (I think even before the OG WS OGs!) and for what it’s worth seems to be utilised relatively regularly (always at the right global news times) and speaks well.

I thought that too, lead headline as well? Bit OTT IMO. Blind Freddy could’ve told you it was going to be a near certain washout many hours earlier when people were going to bed Australia time…

The 2010-2016 and the 2017-2021 eras were the longets used packages on Sunrise

The 2010 package was their best IMO, everything just worked, probably why it lasted so long, even if ratings gradually started to drop to Today (vs 2000s).

Although oddly we saw less of the Martin Place plaza than previous and later in favour of that central blue back-lit back-drop behind the hosts, but the soft set and other wall screens still had the precinct.

I’ve noticed in recent weeks that Sydney has followed the lead of Melbourne and Queensland in having two Sunrise reporters - Liam Tapper (correspondent) and Lucy McLeod (reporter).

McLeod would be utilized on weekends too though I’ve seen at least one Saturday (or Sunday) in which Tapper was used.

Such an upgrade from the old backdrop for Edwina

Sport with Beretta? Autocorrect?

I just really hope they look after this set.

So what do we all think?

  • More positives than negatives
