Inspired by Marian Keyes’ bestselling novels, Stan today released the trailer for the new series The Walsh Sisters starring Louisa Harland, Aidan Quinn and Aidan Quinn. The Walsh Sisters will premiere January 22, all episodes at once, only on Stan.
Set in their Dublin hometown, The Walsh Sisters follows the lives of Anna, Rachel, Maggie, Claire and Helen as they navigate the peaks and troughs of their late 20s and 30s. This is a sisterhood full of in-jokes, hand-me-down resentments and more than a few old wounds. But their DNA, history and shared love of power ballads keep the Walsh sisters together in the face of heartbreak, grief, addiction and parenthood.

Headlining the cast is Louisa Harland (Derry Girls) as the troubled Anna Walsh. She is joined by rising talent Caroline Menton (Oddity) taking on the role of party-girl sister Rachel and Danielle Galligan (House of Guinness) brings oldest sister Claire to life. BAFTA-nominated Máiréad Tyers (Extraordinary) plays the fearless baby of the family, Helen, with the final Walsh sister interpreted by multi-hyphenate stage, screen and screenwriting talent Stefanie Preissner (Solpadeine is My Boyfriend), who plays family ‘white sheep’ Maggie.
In addition to appearing on screen as Maggie, led the writing team with four episodes of The Walsh Sisters, while award-winning writer Kefi Chadwick (Rivals) completes the team with two episodes.
Adding Hollywood stardust to the line-up is Irish American actor Aidan Quinn (Michael Collins). Quinn plays put-upon Jack ‘Daddy’ Walsh alongside Carrie Crowley (An Cailín Ciúin), who recreates eccentric Mammy Walsh. American actress and personality Debi Mazar (Batman Forever) will play Chaquie. Other cast members include Gina Moxley who will play Josephine (The Patient Gloria) and Jay Duffy (Wheel of Time) who will play Rachel’s complicated love interest Luke.

STAN DELIVERS A KILLER TAN WITH BEACHSIDE ‘TANSFORM’ STUNT, INSPIRED BY THE UPCOMING ORIGINAL SERIES SUNNY NIGHTS
Stan has turned up the heat, today (Saturday) welcoming crowds to Bondi Beach to ‘fake it, don’t bake it’ as part of a nationwide teaser campaign in the lead-up to the Boxing Day premiere of the new Stan Original Sunny Nights.
Bringing the series’ tanning brand Tansform to life in a major one-day activation, locals lined up at Bondi Beach for an experience like no other. With tanning samples, playful merchandise, an oversized mascot, a seaplane flyover towing a giant banner, The TODAY Show weatherman Nick ‘Ducko’ Allen-Ducat broadcasting live on site, and the chance to win a 12 month subscription to Stan, beachgoers crowded the activation for a glimpse of the “killer tanning solution”.
The stunt was inspired by the upcoming premiere of the Stan Original Sunny Nights, a comedic drama that follows straight-laced Martin (Will Forte), who teams up with his loose cannon sister, Vicki (D’Arcy Carden), to set up a spray tan business, Tansform, in Australia, home to one of the highest skin cancer rates in the world. Today’s Bondi Beach Tansform activation is part of a broader national campaign to tease the upcoming series, with the tanning brand seen in outdoor advertising across the country, as well as digital placements, influencer packages and a dedicated Tansform Instagram page.

Tropfest, Australia’s premier short film festival, returns in 2026 to uncover the next generation of filmmakers, with Nine as the proud Media Supporting Partner.
Entrants must create an original short film of seven minutes or less featuring the 2026 Tropfest Signature Item (TSI): “Hourglass.” Finalists will premiere their films at Tropfest’s iconic free outdoor event, with winners announced live on the night.
Tropfest returns Sunday February 22 at Centennial Park, Sydney. More information and submissions via the Tropfest website. Submissions close January 8.

The Stan Original series follows the story of a group of young schoolchildren who find themselves stranded on a tropical island with no adults, after a deadly plane crash. In an attempt to remain civil, the boys organise themselves, led by Ralph and supported by the group’s intellectual, Piggy. But Jack, who is in charge of signal fire duty, is more interested in hunting and vying for leadership and soon begins to draw other boys away from the order of the group and, ultimately, from hope to tragedy.

You know a show can be on multiple streaming services at the same time, right?
For shows like Matlock and Elsbeth, I think it should be exclusive to P+ for at least three years before it is available on other streaming platforms.
I believe Paramount+ was operating at a massive loss under Redstone’s leadership, which ultimately led her to approve the subcontracting of its content to rival platforms prior to the Skydance deal.
Based on what? That seems entirely arbitrary. If they want to put their shows on other streaming platforms, that is entirely for them to decide which platforms and when.
Those three shows are actually CBS shows that actually are on linear tv in the US and only air on P+ here as exclusives rather than P+ Originals. So it seems CBS studios sun license these titles after they’ve had their exclusive window finish up.
