Stan

Paramount + all their originals seem to be revivals and reboots.

Season 4 of Yellowstone premieres on Stan on Monday, November 8.

Lots to digest there.

Mention of a potential battle looming for both F1 and EPL rights coming up. You’d think 9, fox, P+ and Optus in the mix for either or both of those.

Christmas on the Farm is the first partnership for Stan and Hoodlum Entertainment, headed up by Tracey Robertson and Nathan Mayfield, with international distribution by Entertainment One and presales through TF1 France.

The Stan Original Film Christmas on the Farm will commence production this month, with further announcements to come.

As I said in another thread, it appears New Amsterdam has moved to Stan with the new season premiering on there rather than Ch 9.

One of Stan’s key strengths is that they almost always look ahead and plan ahead for the future. They’ve realised that to survive more local content is critical to their network. Good on them.

When I looked last night they had S1 and S2 but not S3 - so they’re skipping that straight into the new series? Weird.

Hmm that’s odd I’m going to check. You’re right Season 3 isn’t up.

Ok Stan got back to me :

I don’t get how they can renew a show for so many seasons, it is renewed up to Season 5… so what happens if it rates poorly for Season 4 and 5 … Season 3 was hardly doing that great with weird storylines like Max wanting to end racism etc.

Just goes to show how international sales and streaming services can fund the ongoing production of a series.

Not totally unusual, ABC US renewed The Drew Carey Show for three years in 2001, boy did they rue that decision.

Legend. Thanks.

There can be significant cost savings with production, sometimes the writers room or other components will work right through, others will film multiple seasons back to back (the cost of resuming filming the “current” season of Billions that was paused due to COVID made it much more efficient to film an additional season at the same time).

FOX did the same with Glee and it’s final 2 seasons a few years back too.

NBC did the same for This is Us.

It’s common. A lot of American shows get renewed for multiple seasons.
