Nice to see they’ve kept the AFL promos in the middle.

About time Canberra got a new stadium.

And re NFL at MCG, the Yanks are going to think we are weird for having oval/roundish shaped grounds.

Nah. Let 'em suffer.

Yanks think we’re weird for all sorts of reasons. What’s one more reason gonna do?

It’s been the stage for so many of Australia’s most memorable sporting moments – and now fans will have a chance to take home a piece of the hallowed SCG turf to lay in their own backyard.

At the end of the Sydney Swans’ preliminary final showdown next week, the ground will undergo its annual transition from footy to cricket season.

And as part of the work curators will have to do, horticultural giant Yates is offering three people the chance to be gifted some SCG grass, complete with advice from an expert in lawn care about making sure the turf thrives when relaid.

Entrants are being asked to share, in 50 words or less, their favourite sporting or entertainment moment from the SCG and why they want a piece of turf from that event.

Enter at Yates website. Competition is only open to NSW residents aged 18 years or over, it closes at 11.59pm AEST on September 30.

Probably not the right thread, but I guess you could hold a sports event in the ICC if you really wanted to…

This was the ICC last weekend at the AusFitness Expo - not my video, as I was caught in this throng of humanity sandwiched in like sardines. This has got to be fairly irresponsible on the organisers part to let so many in and get so squashy, right?

This is how tragedies like Heysel Stadium, Hillsbrough and the Wowowee stampede happen.

ICC has hosted netball

The first round of tenders for the Macquarie Point stadium have landed — and so has the bill.

There are two builders in the process and the commercial details of their submissions are confidential, but those familiar with the numbers told Scoop in September the news is not good.

At least $250 million over budget worth of not good.

Rather than respond to a cost blowout by shrinking the project as it evaluates the tenders, Macquarie Point wants to go the other way.

Scoop understands one option being considered by the corporation is to increase the capacity of the stadium to as many as 30,000 people (from the originally planned 23,000).

The argument being put forward is that a larger capacity would improve the stadium’s ability to generate revenue once it opens its doors.

That’s the Tiktok Entertainment Centre. I was referring to the Convention/Exhibition Centre.

It is all part of the same complex/building

Same complex, not same building.

My point stands.

Dont know what the capacity of Totally Workwear Stadium/Langlands Park is but i can understand why the Broncos play the standalone NRLW Games there. Apparently it was a sell out.

Much like Jesse Southwell.

Yes unfortunately

A live concert was held at Leichhardt Oval this afternoon before the venue is closed for a major redevelopment.

Don’t know why they’re even bothering. They’re better off aiming for the Campbelltown area.

Crap location, much better used for high density affordable housing. Like putting lipstick on a pig.

The Crisafulli Government will deliver a world-first hybrid pitch at the new Brisbane Stadium to see The Gabba’s pitch live on, well beyond 2032.

Contemporary wicket infrastructure will be developed and tested at The Gabba before being transferred to the new Brisbane Stadium, ensuring the unique characteristics and the DNA of ‘The Gabbatoir’ continues to haunt the Poms well into the future.

In the coming weeks, a tray will be installed alongside the famous existing in-situ wicket block at The Gabba where it will be curated and trialled in the lead up to 2032.
