Flip confirmed for December 25, reports Radio Today. 2GO, KOFM, 4TO and 92.5 Gold FM will keep their current names, as will Sea FM Gold Coast and Central Coast.
18 month changeover for the “heritage” stations:
Will all regional LocalWorks stations change to Triple M?
No. Selected heritage stations will change to a transition brand for twelve to eighteen
months to introduce consumers to the change more softly. This will be for Gold FM Gold
Coast, KO FM Newcastle, 4TO FM Townsville, and 2GO FM Central Coast. These stations
will also regularly reference on air that they are part of the Triple M Network.
All other LocalWorks stations will rebrand to Triple M.
TRIPLE M REGIONAL REBRAND FAQ
What is the date of the regional rebrand?
Thursday 15 December, 2016.
All other LocalWorks stations will rebrand to Triple M.
there’s a lot more to that - but I don’t; think I should post the whole thing.
so for MIX Perth, KO, 2GO, 4TO and MIX Canberra it will be “Newcastle’s 102.9 KOFM, part of the Triple M Network” on air referencing.
Same for other stations above.
Will the music format and target demographic change for regional Triple M stations?
No. It is simply a brand change with a new look & feel. Stations will remain the same
formats and target the same demographics. Stations will not become a Rock station or
heavily target males. For the consumer, we are still the same station, with the same
announcers and play the same music they know and love.
How will our brands be represented on air?
Triple M Stations: [Market]’s Triple M [Station frequency].
Eg. Mackay’s Triple M 98.7.
For transition brands: [Market]’s [Station frequency and name], Part of the Triple M
Network.
EG. Gold Coast’s 92.5 Gold FM, Part of the Triple M Network.
Does the same transition period apply for Sea Gold Coast and Gosford?
Thought Townsville would have been a tough market. 4TO has been part of the community for 1000 years and an immediate rebrand probably would have put a lot of the older locals off. Not to mention I think some of the jocks wouldn’t have been happy to lose the 4TO Brand… But I guess it is eventually going to happen for them.
Surprised to see Perth on the transitional list… They have been on the transitional list for a very long time already.
The press release indicates Mix 106.3 Canberra will eventually become Triple M.
Wonder if they will stay on iHeartRadio?
There’s an internal document which we have which explains marketing and promotions etc, can’t post it here as I’ll be shot.
Yes, transitional for all those 6 stations in the Ms. By late 2017 expect the branding to be MMM.
I’ve seen the Hit and LocalWorks station logos, they look reasonably decent.
Regarding their SEA branding - not really sure… our documents don’t make that clear.
so 4TO from December 15 will be “The Greatest Hits from the 70s to Now 102.3 4TOFM, part of the Triple M Network” in its branding and on-air sweeps etc.
102.3 4TOFM - part of the Triple M Network?
Why not just call it “Complexity FM”?
most of these stations already run tags into the news: “Part of Southern Cross Austereo, Australia’s Number 1 radio company” — “this is … with the … News”
So it’s been going on now for a while, this will just be reinforced across promotions etc.
Whether jocks have to say it every break is not yet known
Like to see Classic Rock on Perth’s Mix 94.5 - Triple M.
But we will use a brand that screams ‘Rock station for males’ anyway.
Idiots.
Why no transition period for 105.7 the river it’s beyond a joke
If you ask me, there should be a transition period for all stations!
