Sky News (2016-Feb 2025)

They’ll just all simultaneously yell out ‘censorship’ and ‘denial of free speech’ to everything. It’s all they know when their vile opinions get called out.

Rita panahi filling in… don’t know who’s worse. She’s horrific.

Yuck :face_vomiting: She’s one of the female Alans alongside Peta Credlin and Miranda Devine.

No, she’s an intelligent woman who simply just has different opinions to you. And she appeals to Sky’s audience.

I don’t agree with everything Rita says, but it really annoys me when people make rude remarks about people just because they don’t agree with their views.

The promo for Sky News came on before and I almost threw up in my mouth with their figure heads lmao

If she can critique others then we can also critique people like her. It works both ways.

She might be academically accredited but a lot of the information she presents are misleading and purely based on her own thoughts than any evidence. Opinions are opinions but even as commentators they have a duty to be informative and balanced in presenting perspectives and commentating and not spread misinformation by passing them off as opinions.

Hahaha thanks for the laugh. Very much needed today.

I agree that we should be civil to those with different opinions. But this does not apply to all Sky News hosts.

This is because some of these hosts publicly bully people with different opinions. If Alan can describe Dr Chant as the “village idiot” then the gloves are off.

However, I think that Rita is largely respectful towards others. Whilst Alan is often in the gutter, I suspect that Rita is only on the footpath - watching on…

Of course you can critique her, but to say ‘yuck’? That’s a bit unfair.

Well…not really. As commentators they can say what they like. As long as it’s not misinformation that can cause damage, like you mentioned.

And besides, it’s not like people are being forced to listen to her and other Sky presenters.

There’s the problem. They are using their platforms to talk rubbish about people, COVID and other things (like Alan Jones calling COVID no worse than a flu and Kerry Chant a village idiot) which is undermining credible authority and important information.

The likes of Richo are at least respectful and doesn’t spread outright misinformation in his perspectives but the likes of Jones, Dean, Bolt, Panahi etc. always quote unverified studies and journals to support their own opinions whilst attack other people they don’t like. If they do those things through their platform they need to also get some pushback from another side on-air. It’s only fair.

Are you implying that it’s justified that they keep sprouting lies, hate and misinformation just because no one is forced to listen to them?

Oh no! Really. I still remember when he was reporting on his first day. Did not go well  :joy:

Friday Showdown is must watch viewing on Sky News. So funny to see Rita and Nick disagreeing with each other, and hearing Rita laugh and groan when Nick talks. :joy:

It’s alright when it happens on Sky News. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Oh come on…, you and I both know they are two very different things.

If you’ve ever watched Rita it’s clear she’s just taking the piss and her presentation style is just done for show.

Then she shouldn’t be on a fucking news channel.

We don’t. We have taste. And integrity.

So she’s from the Tucker Carlson school of news presenting… “no reasonable thinking person can think this person is a journalist and the program and his comments are just for entertainment” as per the judgement on his defamation or disinformation case or whatever it was.
