In Johnson’s linked MW article, it has a quote from I think Warburton from the investors meeting that “the content from NBC-U already showing positive signs from the first few weeks … 3 of the Top 25 overall bvod shows” or something along those lines, maybe during its first two weeks in mid-Jan before Married. Wonder which shows and guessing as I haven’t seen any rank yet might’ve been ranked 21 - 25 perhaps? You’d hope then they were better in the bvod demographics they’re targetting, but I thought 7flix had the same target (younger women) - which you’ve mentioned seems to be clashing. I have noticed a lot of 7Bravo promos on 7flix.

He did originally seem to tout the channel as making Seven even with Nine in number of multis so that would be a key target for growth. Currently not delivering as far I can see. Any extra audience seems to be at the expense of 7Flix which seems to be a familiar scenario.

Bingo - 7Bravo’s programming features shows that do really well on streaming. The prime example of that is how 7Plus’ trending list (assuming it’s accurate) features a lot of 7Bravo programs.

The channel has been around for less then a month and it’s already beating 10 Shake and not that far from the likes of 9rush and 7flix

It will likely be a slowish build, but to get the numbers it’s currently reporting it would have had to pull an audience from somewhere - question is was it from Sevens other channels or elsewhere

On bacco’s point, I do tend to agree, in that close to or around 1% (and has done more than that a few times) is solid-ish for a brand new channel and yes compared to what some more established commercial multis are doing, however conversely that’s also probably too close to call yet, knowing how fickle the m/c are, especially on nights of big reality programming.

Which leads me to my next point, in that it doesn’t help that Seven’s prime time reality show isn’t rating well, a target audience I’m sure if high like Married 7Bravo promos could’ve benefited. And in terms of upcoming programming, can you really see Seven promoting Bravo during the AFL, very doubtful (unless desperate) considering the polar opposite gender demographics, although sure lots of women and younger do watch the footy too, but I’ve no doubt overwhelmingly outnumbered by middle aged men.

Cynic mentioned during the Aus Open that Seven News (which was doing particularly high) was Seven’s only real ‘weapon’ for show promotion at that time (i.e.) Idol and jury is out on whether that worked or not, but I’d be interested to see how many if any at all 7Bravo promos are being shown during that hour at the moment, along with other promos - might take a look tonight for observation on this.

Can’t say I recall seeing any.

For mine, the most fascinating aspect is the size of the circles, where Bravo is almost at 7mate (obviously not true in terms of ratings yet), but wonder if this suggests where Seven want it to end up?

The size of the circle obviously represents the size of the age bracket rather than the ratings expected. See the vertical axis. Though apparently people who don’t ID as male or female are only expected to watch the main channel as that is the only one to cover the cross over from F- M plus those who are on the extremes of gender identification shouldn’t watch the main channel at all. :wink:

At least we’ve not got a definitive from them that 7flix is youngest key females and slightly less female, whereas 7Bravo is slightly more female and older, also indicated by the people in those images. I suspect advertisers, for the moment, if tossing between the two would continue to go for 7flix’s harder to reach 16-39 and it also often ranks in its Top 5 with Simpsons / Family Guy / occasional movies, to the dismay of Seven who obviously want and need Bravo to fire more.

SWM is regional? Or who do you mean?

Was making a facetious reference to the SCA “merger”. Regional or otherwise, TV people need to stay away from radio (and vice versa).

Only reason HT&E would take this up is if they’ve taken on too much debt from the Grants acquisition. With that said, I’m not sure there’s much fat to be cut in what was already a lean network off the back of COVID-19.

Nine is doing pretty well with the radio stable.

That is not what that means, rather the middle (where the main channel is) covers both female and males equally full stop.

You seem to have missed the emoji at the end of the post.

I would say it would be similar to Nine Entertainments strategy where television, radio and print are under different operation.

SWM is just playing ‘catch up’ with Nine. They had the opportunity to merge with Fairfax but missed it, numerous News Corp/Foxtel tie-up rumours, the failed attempt at SCA that led to the Prime merger, and then the failed Paramount ‘merger’ attempt which would’ve killed Network 10. Stokes is desperate to have the type of resources Nine and others have because his network is failing and doesn’t have a ‘Plan B’ to actually compete against Stan and Paramount + except to rely on content deals and rebroadcast deals with Foxtel. HT&E/ARN may provide a radio network and outdoor option but aside from that there really isn’t a lot for SWM to build with IMHO.

From the AFR via Mediaweek:

The biggest investor in HT&E, which owns iHeartRadio and Kiis FM, the home of Kyle and Jackie O, has spoken out about a possible M&A tie-up with Seven West Media, saying consolidation is likely but it is hesitant about free-to-air TV.

[Fund manager] Allan Gray (which owns 20% of HT&E) analyst Tim Hillier pointed towards well-publicised expensive sports rights being a hindrance to further investment in television broadcasters.
