I believe Seven are going to achieve this with Farmer Wants a Wife, however all the other programs on offer this year aren’t gonna be good.
The hype over Big Brother has already died because they are cost cutting to deliver a format no one wants.

i’m really starting to think that they should’ve invested in the circle over BB now
Well yeah, I’m not expecting big ratings from The Farmer Wants a Wife. Didn’t it only attract lukewarm ratings at best when it was last on Nine?
Perhaps the only OK thing about that show returning to our screens is Natalie Gruzlewski coming back with it, although her talents would probably be far better utilised in other areas she was previously seen on Nine in - namely Gold Coast or Sydney weather. Mind you, I wouldn’t realistically expect to see Seven dump Paul Burt, David Brown or even Angie Asimus for Nat.
House Rules pulled miserable numbers last year and they are returning it again (i believe?). I’m not sure why half the shows in this years lineup even got renewed. It’s time for Seven to try something new in these slots instead of copying other networks then failing miserably and moving onto the next program.
Meanwhile at Nine, they have a steady share price with consistent numbers across the majority of programs. Network 10 has established a loyal and growing audience to their programs. It’s troubling times.
Congratulations! You are the one millionth person who has said that. Fact is, they probably didn’t even know what The Circle even was when they invested in BB.
That’s not how it works.
I’m aware. I’m just pointing it out the share price they were at when it occurred.
They’re trying to do that but it has been held up by the ACCC review process and the concerns they have about the proposed merger with Bauer
Explain to me how they aren’t currently a ‘reputable’ media organization? It feels like you’re taking your opinions of Seven and claiming them as facts when they’re not.
The problem is they can’t not have any sports rights full stop because sport is ultimately one of the few things which still brings in viewers. We’ve seen over the past few years that if Seven didn’t have the AFL rights, they would be in a bigger hole than they find themselves in on multiple fronts.
Sorry for the bad wording, but I was meaning reputable in terms of: Well-liked by viewers in terms of programs and well known for delivering quality output across all assets (New Idea is complete garbage and their network output apart from news is just terrible).
I suppose the term ‘reputable’ could be subjective and in my view the above is what I would define as reputable. Certainly not trying to pass it off as facts so I do apologise if it came across that way. Maybe ‘Well-liked network associated with high quality’ would be a better description.
No worries - agree with the points you made
Obviously the situation with news varies from market to market but if Seven News was so great from a Sydney perspective, I highly doubt most of their best talent would’ve fled the Martin Place newsroom over the past 5-6 years!
I think catch up numbers need to be seen before writing MKR off completely. MAFS is essential appointment viewing because it blows up social and News Ltd. Survivor has a legion of fans and MKR is probably good weekend or catch up viewing. Not desputing the overnights aren’t bad, but maybe not a total loss.
what do i win?
Heaps of cash. Just send me your bank account details and three forms of identification. Nothing suss.
7WM’s poor financial situation doesn’t bode well for them being able to up their offer for Prime7 (Prime Media Group).
Perhaps Prime Media’s shareholders should’ve accepted the offer, despite it not being as much as they’d hoped for? (Presumably Bruce Gordon’s wrecking is unlikely to ever change.)
Wouldn’t be surprised if NBCU (Comcast) buys Seven West Media and rebrands the network if SWM goes under. Things aren’t looking good at all.
7 had a stake in Yahoo7 until 2018 and AOL in the early 00s with the i7 News and i7 Sport portals.
But it will mean NBCUniversal terminating its TV and movie supply deal with Nine.
Who are the likely buyers for SWM?
Newscorp and NBC Universal?
A situation when CBS took over 10 and they had to end their long association with The Simpsons and reruns of MASH on Channel One
IIRC, Fox terminated their agreement with 10 before CBS entered into an agreement to buy the network. I don’t believe those two things are mutually exclusive.
Not necessarily and not straight away, agreements need to be fulfilled and can be re-negotiated at the end of the agreement period. If they can make better money elsewhere to monetize their content, they will. Anyway that’s all very hypothetical, since we don’t even know if there’s anything in the works.
