Seven Regional

IIRC 7Bravo and 7flix are still statewide feeds, hence the names “7Bravo” and “7flix” in the EPG compared to “7two Bendigo” or “7mateHD Bendigo” for example.

7 Mildura still has the 7Prime branding over its sales office.

Seven Regional investing in some outdoor advertising in Canberra

I’ve seen one of these in a Bendigo shopping centre as well about a month ago

Did it have a Bendigo backdrop or a Melbourne one? Haven’t been out much so haven’t seen it.

Melbourne IIRC

That Canberra backdrop could be misleading to locals if they think it means they’re going to see Canberra news on 7 (outside of Federal Politics).

intentionally, yes.

Screams to me that there will be NO local 6pm bulletin of Seven News in Canberra ever again as I have been saying for a very long time. This supports my view on that despite others in this forum seeking a return to an el-cheapo and shoddy grade localised version of what would not be a metro quality bulletin. Does the 9News Regional 6pm carnage style bulletin comes to mind here speaking of cheap and shoddy? Why else would Seven invest in Mark Ferguson as the face of Seven News in Canberra? It is not cheap to run billboards like this. If anything, Seven may insert a 4 to 5 minute pre-recorded local window by the same Sydney presenters into the existing Sydney metro bulletin, but I would not hold my breath on that either.

Certainly not whilst Seven News is the top rating 6pm program in Canberra (assuming that’s still the case).

Correct!

I think we’ll get a better idea once Seven move to Eveleigh and they decide what to do with the Canberra facility - but I tend to agree with you that its highly unlikely that a service will return

They could do an Nine/NBN and have Mark pre-record some Canberra stuff…have them all work from home as VJs and send it online for playout that way.

Seven should be doing more local news. But that’s unlikely to happen.

Saw a couple of 7News billboards in Wollongong today, One at Wollongong Central and one at the Enhance Petrol Station next to McDonald’s in Albion Park Rail.

I don’t think I’ve seen any up here in the Newcastle area yet.

Hopefully only a matter of time.

What slogan are they going to use…

“PLEASE WATCH US”
“WATCH 7NEWS AND WE’LL PAY YOU $50”*
“THERE ARE OTHER NEWS BULLETINS AROUND”

  • = cheques will not be honoured.

I was waiting for you to say …

“If you don’t watch us, ElCapitanCranky will come looking for you!”.

Yes, like I have all the time in the world to stalk the otherwise reasonably fine people of Newcastle into watching 7 News when they have a perfectably adequate local news. A bit like Sisyphus pushing the boulder up the hill.

There’s also (or at least there was a few weeks ago) one on the freeway at Dapto
