Prime’s idents/look improved by leaps and bounds when they adopted the new logo, but agree that the stuff coming out of Seven at the time was on another level. The original TV Man idents were brilliant.
I can’t watch an Ampol ad now without being thrown back to the early 2000s. Anyone living in Prime territory can recite the lyrics of that song in their sleep.
You seem emotionally attached to the idea that affiliates are getting a bad deal and deserve better.
It’s business. And these are deals they signed.
If they brought something more of value to to negotiating table they’ve be able to engineer deals that serve them better financially. But they don’t bring enough value to the table. Both sides know it - or these deals would not get signed
If you think affiliates have a bad deal paying up to 50% of their ad revenue for programming - without networks they’ve be in a much worse place. There is no content out there for them. They don’t make their own. And even If they could aqquire programming in the marketplace it would be programming with far less Appeal than Masterchef, I’m a celebrity, the chase, home and away and Lego masters. They’d spend more than 50% of their revenue buying programming. They’d then have to spend millions to market and promote it. It would rate a whole lot less which means lower revenue again. They’d then need to develop their own apps, websites, and complex Catch up / streaming IT
Can you see them wanting to do that? No - the network deal is the best bet. Without it they’d b screwed. They know it too. Which is why they sign the deals
If the yet to be seen ‘Prime7 > 7’ graphic slide preview is anything to go by, there won’t be an immediate rebrand today. I’ld say this will be the first sign of the gradual transition.
Yes, I don’t think there will be a rebrand yet. I am putting my money on July 1 when the transition is complete as it is the start of the business year, and most big rebrands have happened on that date as well.
I am not going through this discussion again, I simply was saying some were bemoaning lack of local content, but the affiliation rates are the single biggest issue because the regional networks have to cut their costs when that happens, and that is why WIN’s is so threadbare now.
Even as recent as the mid-2000s, WIN were still adding new news bulletins for the smaller markets when they didn’t have to, could have just as easily counted the dollars and do nothing like some others.
It’s hard to tell so far this morning as Sunrise, Morning Show and the Morning News normally don’t use the PRIME7 watermark. Maybe we’ll know at midday when regular programming is on.
I suspect they’ll still be using the PRIME7 watermark at least until 1st July, that’s my bet at 11:55am right now! We’ll know shortly…
Got a idea
Make PRIME Possem and Doopy Dog TV Guy with a new bedtime animation and run it on both metro and regional channels. Ideas:
7two guy is a ‘kid’ and gets put into bed with the 7 TV Guy ‘parent’
Animation shows 7 TV Guy in a bed looking out the window, MATE dog is sleeping on the bed.

These bedtime animations are pointless, especially on channels like 7two and 7mate where the demographics are not skewing towards kids. The only one where it could make sense is 7flix when they run family movies.
Probably as some kind of community service announcement for parents.
It seems to have worked for NBN all these years. Except for the times Big Dog seems to have been naughty and been sent to bed as early as 4.45pm (an error of course).
