Anyone who works in media buying who doesn’t get this relatively simple change should be sacked. And by that I mean, they would all get it. This is a much simpler change than SCA switching to Nine and back again.
Will be interesting to see if Prime7 do some on air tweaking after the Olympics to match prgs etc with (two, mate and flix).
Got a feeling the Prime7 brand will be around for a while but I have notice much more 7 influence in the last few days.
i wonder if 7 will just keep prime name for 12 months all more… not even a hint of it being changed as far as i can see
It’s a gradual change I reckon, I’m sure I’m not the only one seeing a lot more 7 advertising happening.
I feel it will be a lot of small changes and not a total relaunch, it will happen slowly.
Agree that there won’t be any official relaunch with any fanfare.
If and when it happens, I think it will be done very quietly and most viewers won’t even really notice.
Another thing that I think could happen - localised watermarks ala what 7QLD had eg. “7 Newcastle”, “7 Canberra” etc That could be what they do to emphasise the branding change as well as retaining a local connection.
There are quite a few promos ending with “after the Olympics on Seven”, and I’m wondering whether this is foreshadowing? After the Olympics on Seven?
Entirely possible I’m reading too much into it.
If they changed it today I doubt anyone would really notice or care.
Prime and 7 mean the same thing to most people.
Announcing it as some kind of big change would probably just confuse most people who thought they were the same thing anyway.
current bug too big remove prime then it wont stick out like a sore thumb lol prime bugs all thats left of prime lol
It’s one of the smallest they’ve used.
No it’s not.

The seven bug is massive compared to the PRIME7 and GWN7 bugs.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but that’s being advertised on metro channels too. But hey- we can dream right
Not sure if they still do that on 7QLD anymore?
7two and 7mate are no longer market based anymore either across the 7 local markets of 7QLD. They were changed to 7QLD wide single feeds around a couple years ago, but they all used to have local market region on-screen bugs.
If you live in Canberra, Wollongong or Newcastle, Prime7 is very much not a local station though. It has a brand used across the two biggest states and the biggest territory and basically no local content. That’s the biggest misconception about regional television - it’s actually not local.
In the Gold Coast, Seven has more local content than Prime7, with the former having a half-hour local news bulletin at 5:30pm weeknights, whilst the latter is basically a relay of Seven Sydney (with an hour delay during when NSW has DST).
In the Central Coast of NSW, there’s really no incentive to watch Prime7 over Seven, so such so that there’s hardly any local ads of Central Coast businesses.
It isn’t in regional Victoria either, except in Albury/Wodonga.
I’m presuming Seven will eventually make the Prime7 and GWN7 sub-markets available for Live Streaming (for bvod viewers in those areas or those who fake their GPS) on 7Plus? As is currently done for 7QLD. As Prime7/GWN7 News bulletins are now being uploaded onto 7Plus and Seven executive Kurt Burnette told MW this morning that they’re now “marketing that” [Prime Media News on 7Plus to those regions].
If there’s no demand for it I don’t see any reason to put resources into something like that.
I wonder if it would really require that many “resources” though? I mean as I mentioned, it’s already being done for regional Queensland. And also how could there be “demand”, if viewers in Prime markets don’t know it exists, hence some “marketing” (e.g.) A viewer in Ballarat might’ve seen the odd 7Plus promo and tried the live stream on the app, but seen its metro Melbourne and never gone back again for that reason.
I really doubt that’s ever happened, or that the average ballarat viewer can tell which metro feed they’re watching or would notice much of a difference. I doubt they would watch the same program only to turn it off because they don’t see a PRIME7 watermark.
From my experience dealing with ballarat television it doesn’t seem that viewers have any issue watching straight metro feeds of Nine/Ten from WIN and SCA every night.
