Think having different presenters front each episode works well for the Spotlight format. It means each story/episode can stand alone rather than being tied to an overarching show format
7NEWS Spotlight: Ride of Your Life
Pushing the limit for thrills
Nothing makes you feel more alive than the visceral feeling of fear itself.
Whether youâre upside down, down under or right side up, dangling in weightless suspension or bracing for the sharp drop, thereâs a kind of rush all over the world⌠and its name is terror.
This Sunday, Sunriseâs Natalie Barr goes to the edge in a 7NEWS Spotlight special investigation as she reveals the highs and lows, twists and turns of the multi-billion-dollar global theme park industry.
From an Aussie coaster thatâs as old as the Titanic, to the newest, most hair-raising and death-defying contraptions on earth, 7NEWS Spotlight crosses continents in a wild roller coaster ride across Australia and the United States to uncover the very best and the worst.
Meet the families who canât get enough chasing the greatest thrill on earth, and the people whose lives were tragically and inextricably changed in an instant.
Plus shocking revelations about Australiaâs biggest ride disasters and how an industry locked down by COVID plans to rise again.
Pull down your safety harness and buckle up as 7NEWS Spotlight goes behind the screams to bring you the ride of your life.
How on earth is this a one-hour âcurrent affairsâ report?
Thatâs right⌠ratings are more likely to fluctuate. Cannot see much interest in this weekâs roller coaster.
The following Sunday is
7NEWS Spotlight: Saving Candice
Itâs midnight and a badly injured woman knocks on the door of a random house. Within one hour two men will be dead, and a third fighting to clear his name. Was it murder or self-defence?
Just saw Grant Denyer on a promo, 10 contract is certainly over
What was the promo for? Grantâs role at 10 was based on a lot of failing shows.
Rude Of Your Life. Looks like he will be interviewed, assuming based on his car crash.
Rude
Grant is a âbreaking developmentâ from last weeks UFO story. Heâs seen one apparently.
Well I couldnât have gotten that much more wrong, I tried!
I just saw that promo during 7 news in Melb. I donât think it will have much pulling power. They overdo the whole âbreaking developmentâ thing to the point where âbreaking newsâ etc on 7 is totally meaningless.
With the AFL on Seven at least in Victoria and Tasmania next Sunday evening, this special will need to be shifted either to a multichannel or another night.
The episode began with Nat riding the Valravn alone at Cedar Point, Ohio. It is the tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster in the world. Looks like this is the one Nat was talking about this morning.
More UFO stuff with Grant Denyer was tacked onto the end of the show tonight.
Then there was an ad break with a promise of more to come but it was just a preview of next weekâs show.
What is Spotlight trying to do? Is it a one story per show? Or several stories in the one show, like what Sunday Night was?
Next week, the show is titled âSaving Caniceâ, with a UFO story from last week thrown into the mix, just so Grant Denyer can be on a Seven show?
Grantâs UFO story was tacked onto the end of tonightâs show.
I thought tonightâs special was really interesting. Iâve never been a fan of these types of rides but it was quite eye opening to what goes on behind the scenes - good and bad.
My bad. I misread your post.
I do prefer the long form interviews / pieces. Instead of stories tucked into the show from previous weeks just for the sake of it.
