Seven News Presenters and Reporters

I think the exit of Matt Carmichael made more room for Matt White’s return. Great news.

Be interesting to see how they promote the split news teams, I would imagine promos will start from Tomorrow, here in Wa

Did Seven Execs made an offer for Alex Cullen and Matt White when they returned to the network?

Probably promote the four of them together as the four anchors of 7News

Something similar to this wouldn’t be a bad idea.

In retrospect, while this promo was obviously effective in keeping viewers on Seven, saying Will is a good news presenter because he’s watched the news, or it’s “in his blood”, and because his dad was a news presenter, is a bit of a tacky statement considering he never studied journalism and has never reported for Seven. In saying that, I don’t believe Brenton Ragless at Nine studied journalism either.

Will did study journalism, but yeah the whole thing screamed nepobaby. Parachuted in with no newsroom or reporting experience to arguably the top news job in Adelaide.

Hoepfully Perth go with something a little less about handing on the baton for now.

He actually studied politics

The son of 7NEWS Adelaide legend, Graeme Goodings, Will has news in his blood, and grew up around the Seven studios. He studied politics at Adelaide University.

He also studied post-grad Jouralism, at Uni SA Magill.

I thought he was also doing SEN radio in Sydney, had his own show and would regularly cover national and international events?

He was. Left that last year.

I think many forget that he was one of Seven’s biggest stars at one point and was obviously looked upon quite highly by top brass. Great to see his talents and expertise back on TV, clearly has a passion for storytelling sport.

Not taking away from the abilities of Matt White, I’m surprised they’ve picked him to spearhead 7 League coverage over others who perhaps have been in that field more of late.

He has been the face of Australian national motorsport coverage across 10 and 7 for decades and it hardly makes a mention in the press release.

A good addition to their team nonetheless.

And again on Sunday

Possibly also part of the Comm Games coverage too. He was with Seven briefly in 2021 for the Paralympics

Brisbane didn’t get this. We have Air Crash Investigations. That’s odd.

Very strange indeed.. In a time where it’s needed too with a Cyclone impacting North QLD

One of the reasons I said it was great to see White back, was that I was also happy for him, as AFAIK he has been through quite a bit (not specifically suggesting mental health). But I think this might’ve been missed a few months ago, when he had a broad interview with MW and it included:

“Out of everything that I’ve done in my career and all the highs and everything along the way, that was one of the proudest moments…” [becoming 10 HoS and brokering the Melbourne Cup broadcast deal]

“…with COVID and the state of Channel 10, I had that job taken off me. I lost my job in a phone call and I was still on air at the time. And it broke my heart … It took me a while to recover from that”.

He will be a great addition to 7. Not just a versatile sports presenter but general presenter as we know with Today Tonight and Sunrise.
Happy to see him back at 7.
