It’s usually from Brisbane on Monday’s-Wednesday’s anyway these days unless Gertie Spurling or Casey Trealor are reading the 4pm news on those days in Adelaide (Elspeth Hussey usually does those days).
Usually it’s from Brisbane Monday-Wednesday - obviously yesterday was different
It used to be five days from Adelaide, with Gertie on Monday, Thursday and Friday and Casey, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Now that Elspeth has returned, Gertie or Casey do the weather Monday, Thursday and Friday. Tony Auden now does Tuesday and Wednesday from Brisbane
Okay my bad - swear I’ve seen Tony doing Monday’s the pat few months
Should just be Tony everyday, would take a meteorologist any day.
Mike Amor has just written a new book titled News Cowboys, reflecting on his nearly two decades working at Seven’s LA bureau. It comes out this Tuesday.
According to Media Diary in The Australian, there are rumours that Seven has asked Sarah Greenhalgh to return from maternity leave early, in order to combat Joel Dry’s arrival on the Nine News desk from mid-August.
With all due respect, it’s not going to make a difference. It’s not like Sarah had been around for years and viewers miss her. She was only on air for a few months before leaving. If anything, viewers probably think Katrina is the main co presenter.
They need to start a massive push with good promos.
Article also quotes a Seven insider who says, “We’re not worried about Joel.” A fair comment.
Why rush her. Just let her take time
Sarah was only in the job for three months before her maternity leave. I don’t think she built up any following that would translate to increased ratings on her return. In the meantime Katrina has likely built up some credibility in the role (despite not appearing on the end board). I don’t think viewers will respond positively to another change.
Just think of the position Seven would be in if they hadn’t sacked a popular news reader while Nine lost one of theirs.
Let’s be honest, Katrina hasn’t brought in the ratings during this period.
I was told, and mentioned on this forum, some time ago that this would happen, following Sarah’s family trip to europe. So this was possibly always the timing of her return from maternity leave.
They’re not worried about rating either from the look at figures, getting their arses handed to them on a plate. I’d be shutting up about Nine and concentrating on my product.
Joel isn’t going to make it harder for them, so I think that is a fair response.
True but what if it is worse without her?
Anyone ever considered if Max is the issue?
Sharyn carried Max because she had all the experience. Without Sharyn, he was always going to struggle.
So it’s not all on the female co-presenter.
