Saturday 1 May -
Estelle Griepink presenting weather in Melbourne tonight.
Seven AFL Reporter, Mark Stevens was interviewed for tonight’s ‘Mitch’s Melbourne’ segment on Seven News Melbourne. From the promos, it sounds like a health issue.
Revealed tonight that Mark Stevens is recovering from surgery after being diagnosed with bowel cancer, after undergoing a colonoscopy.
He started experiencing symptoms in the AFL hub last year but didn’t do anything about it until later on.
He is now in the clear and hopes that his story can make a difference.
Story just airing now on 7Tas news too, interesting it looks like it’s being run around the same time on the various bulletins. Louise introduced the story as one that hits hard to one of their own 7 team.
Apparently he got the news only a couple of minutes before going to air one night with some reports. Can’t imagine how hard that would have been to not let show.
I wish him well in his recovery.
The story on Mark Stevens is now up on YouTube.
Herald Sun has also published a report on the same topic: (Stevo used to work for the paper before joining Seven eight years ago)

Maybe not the best name at the moment…
Unrelated comment from another thread
I recall her reporting for Ten News Adelaide / Sports Tonight some 12+ years ago, didn’t realise she was still in TV news, let alone moved to Seven.
@Sully According to her LinkedIn profile Nicki joined 7 Adelaide in July 2017.

I suppose that leads to the inevitable question, who will be the first Sydney TV newsreader to get their jab on-camera? AFAIK, the main newsreaders (and probably more than a few secondary newsreaders) across all networks here are over 50 so I suppose it could be any of them…
