New Flash Prince Phillip is dead.
Perth went live just after 7pm
And also seen in Sydney, Perth skyline and all.
And in Melbourne.
I wonder if Seven will use Prince Phillip’s death as an opportunity to send the dynamic duo (Usher and Cox) over to the UK to anchor coverage over there?
It would be great if they sent Michael and Angela over together to cover it as they’re two of the best in the business when it comes to live, rolling news and I think they make a good team, but I think it’s unlikely given they’d have to do hotel quarantine when they get back.
Nat headed Stateside to cover the US election, so why not?
From memory, Ann Sanders and David Johnston headed to London for Princess Diana’s funeral in 1997. Can’t remember if Seven had an European correspondent at the time.
The UK requires a 10 day quarantine on arrival which would rather defeat the purpose.
Prince Phillip also famously wanted “no fuss” after his death so I doubt there will be a huge amount to cover anyway. The two correspondents they already have on the ground in the UK are more than capable of handling things there.
With the UK still in lockdown, don’t you think it’s likely the funeral will be low key?
Most likely.
Although if we weren’t currently in a global pandemic I’m sure a number of high profile Australian journalists would’ve been on the next available flight to London.
Sue Carr was there too
Doubt they will send both, and judging by Ange Cox’s Instagram, she’s recently moved her sick mum to Sydney, so she won’t be going overseas. Given quarantine protocols, they may just have to lean on Hugh and Sarah on the ground.
Saturday 10 April-
Peter Mitchell is presenting in Melbourne tonight.
Looks like Mark is presenting in Sydney…colour me surprised.
Great to see all east coast cities having their main anchors on.
Rick and Sue presenting in Perth tonight in line with other states.
What did Adelaide have?
Usual weekend team.
Was Rick and Sue’s attire also in line with the other states with muted colours? Nothing against what was worn yesterday, it was a very out of blue annoucement to prep a News Flash for it.
