But for another bizarre reason have dual readers on weekends? Seriously something is bonkers at ATN.
I presume that’s because they’re getting viewers used to the on-screen pairing, ahead of when they take over weeknights sometime in the future.
I know Mel Doyle does not work for the Seven Network anymore, but:
Melissa Doyle… always a class act!
Friday 26 March-
Laurel Irving will be presenting Afternoon News in Melbourne today.
Seven Brisbane loses its state political reporter Patrick Lion.
Friday 26 March-
Jacqueline Felgate is presenting Melbourne sport from GMHBA stadium in Geelong tonight.
Not a huge loss, he wasn’t the best reporter they had. Question is do you get Patrick Condren back? Or is he now ineligible after running for labor as Brisbane mayor?
Don’t know if it has been mentioned but Melbourne reporter Kristy Mayr delivered twins on March 7.
The twins are Ollie and Ash, younger brothers to Jackson.
According to her Twitter profile, she is on maternity leave and will return to Seven in 2022.
Also Sean Sowerby has been absent to 7 Melbourne because he has been in hospital with a burst appendix.
Sunday (28.03.2021) - Monday (29.03.2021): Georgie Chumbley is presenting Brisbane’s weather.
Tuesday (30.03.2021) - Thursday (01.04.2021): Paul Burt is presenting the weather in Brisbane.
Whilst it’s good to see Georgie getting experience, why wouldn’t they just get Paul Burt or Liz Cantor, both more familiar than Georgie, to do weather in Tony’s absence?
@FootyKick Maybe Liz and Paul were unavailable.
It is also good to build your talent up. Presenters aren’t just ‘known’ and need the odd night presenting to get their names out there.
Burty is not very good. He should remain as Seven’s coastal reporter and should never been appointed weekend weather presenter. It was bad enough he was on almost every day during the Christmas period.
His style suits the local audience though, much like Luke Bradnam on Nine.
