That guy is Daniel Healion, former producer of The Latest when it was in Sydney. Not sure what his role is now.
Gosh if she was a snack she would have bit me! Thanks.
I think Joel is only a freelancer these days, only filling in when either Hugh Whitfeld (now Ben Downie) or Ashlee Mullany are away.
From memory I have seen Amy Parks (who, if I’m not mistaken now lives in London) fill in in the past.
During last nights pregame ahead of the AFL on Triple M, the guys discussed Tim Watson’s upcoming departure from Channel 7 (even though it hasn’t been made public yet). A strong rumour was put forward that Nathan Brown, former AFL player who has been working for Channel 9 on various football programs, and is part of that pregame program on Triple M, has sent Seven a showreel to put himself forward as a replacement for Tim Watson!
Assuming Seven got tickets as a broadcaster, in fact host? Possibly a Seven or VIP area?
Wow, can’t tell if they’re serious or not.
“Seven News… With Peter Mitchell, Nathan Brown and Jane Bunn”.
They went thru this on the Sunday Footy Show. I think it was just a big joke.
Tim Watson will depart Channel 7 at the end of the year with the news of the sporting great’s exit from the network accidentally revealed on radio by a close friend.
Luke Darcy confirmed Watson was calling time on his 13 years reading sport for Seven News in Melbourne while roasting his colleague Nathan Brown on Triple M’s Friday Huddle.
Yes but I think that was more about him putting himself forward as a play-by-caller. I think last night’s discussion was more about the 6pm news specifically (wouldn’t put it past Nathan to position himself for the role!).
Saturday 21 September-Sunday 22 September
Elspeth Hussey is again filling in for Mike Smithson this weekend in Adelaide
Bec Maddern looks happy
Bec from the MCG starting the news immediately (2mins) after her team lost in the preliminary final.
Good effort by Bec
lol what a stitch up by the news director there.
Poor Bec.
It had to be her. She was the only one there as Mike was in studio. Since they would of obviously started with the AFL result, it would of been Bec doing it with a Cats win or Lions win
With a Sydney v Brisbane grand final next week, I think Seven will send reporters from both cities to Melbourne to cover the preparations. It could even broadcast a 6pm bulletin live from Melbourne back into both cities later in the week.
They should have just have Bec Maddern do a MEL/SYD/BNE only 7 News Bulletin post the GF.
Wouldn’t be a good look, especially with the revolving door situation at 7 Brisbane.
If anything, Seven should send Max down next week to do the bulletin live from the MCG in the lead-up to the GF.
Can’t see that happening.
You want your local faces involved, especially given there’s local sentiment in each city.
Also you wouldn’t be able to cover the full reaction to a win because you would be going out to the losing teams market.
I know she wouldn’t have missed it for the world (being Geelong’s No. 1 ticket holder - can still remember that tabloid photo of her and 10’s Helen Kapalos who was Hawthorn’s No. 1 ticket holder in the lead-up to 2008’s Grand Final)… But in retrospect might’ve been better to have Amor, a Richmond fan, at the ground and Maddern in-studio, she still could’ve gone for a bit and watched the rest on monitors back at BCM.
