Last night Mel McLaughlin presented sport from inside the MCG, but tonight she was nowhere to be seen, with Matt Carmichael called into the studio instead.
Don’t want to jump to any conclusions, but because of today’s events, one wonders whether she’s been deemed a close contact and has to isolate, or Mel is the “member of Seven’s commentary team” (TV Tonight) that tested positive.

Definitely possible as she seemed to be the only on-air talent that didn’t appear to come back to the MCG. Could it be possible that it was one of the Behind the Scenes crew close the team (makeup, cameramen etc)?

Good to see her again, an former long-time GTV name.
How good to see, throwback to mid-2000s and prior, still feel 14+ years on (even though is a pro and has brilliant chemistry with Laz) since doing TMS that she is severely underutilised at Seven.
Wonder if she was indeed destined for Olympics again this year before the Sydney lockdown, she hosted afternoon replays for Rio 2016? Lewis Martin (7 hos) told Gerard on SEN a few months back that they lost “40 people from Sydney” in their “fourth” revised Tokyo Olympics plan, which was set just 2 weeks out following the then chaos in NSW.

Annette Sharp reports in The Daily Telegraph that Mel McLaughlin tested positive to coronavirus, hence her sudden disappearance from Seven’s cricket coverage (and not doing sport on the 6pm news).

Nope, nothing yet. Clearly a formal agreement (contract) hasn’t been finalised or agreed to by both parties.
