Please, let’s hear them. Surely you agree the team is much stronger at the moment having brought back into the country those three reporters?
We’ve known for about a month now.
Basil Zempilas turned 50 on Friday, July 30. He was presented with seven blue cupcakes with his face painted on top, at Melbourne’s Gravity Media studios where he is calling the swimming for Seven’s Olympic coverage.
Jacqueline Felgate also celebrated her birthday during the week.
Obviously not everyone knew! Let’s all be nice and welcoming!

Shoutout to Rob Ovadia, been doing a good job as senior reporter in Sydney in Chris Reason’s absence reporting on covid news.
He’s been asking some great questions at the press conferences and is not afraid to report in amongst the action, as we’ve seen.
Can’t say I’ve ever heard anyone praise Robert Ovadia.
He’s the weak link in the Sydney team if you ask me.
Robert Ovadia: A journalist which actually represents a lot of what’s wrong with Seven News Sydney.
Honestly…Rob’s reports are generally in the typical tabloid style, his presenting is even worse, there have been occasions where his social media conduct has been questionable and all reports I’ve heard suggest that he’s not the nicest person in real life either. Sure, it was disgusting how those protesters assaulted Ovadia the weekend before last (I think), but that’s about it.
Agree. He deserves anything but a ‘shout out’. Terrible.
I agree that he isn’t always the best, but I’ve found him much better recently. Whenever I watch his reports, I always find them to ‘stand out from the crowd’, compared to reports from other reporters. He does have a lot of experience and, IMO, authority. I’d give him points for persistence too - there was one video I saw of a press conference where Hazzard didn’t answer his questions and he kept pushing until he got a response.
Ovadia wouldn’t have lasted 20 years at Seven as a senior journalist if there was a problem with his conduct and performance. They got rid of Josh Massoud fairly quickly for behaviour problems.
Walkley awards and recognition for good deeds during tough circumstances would attest to Ovadia’s character, professionalism and value to Seven. I see him as a more of an old school, tough and tenacious reporter. Those traits wouldn’t endear him to some but they’d be required to have lasted so long on tough beats like crime. He handled himself extremely well during that protest confrontation.
Angie Asimus revealed on her Instagram that she was in 14 days isolation, hence her absence from Seven News Sydney.
Tonight was her first night back presenting weather.
