Seven News Melbourne reporter (and former Bachelorette) Georgia Love married Lee Elliott in Hobart today. Their wedding were postponed a couple of times due to COVID-19. With Tasmania reopening its state border to Victoria last week, the couple finally took the chance to have the ceremony in the island state where Georgia worked as a journalist for WIN News.

Continuing on from what I said in the above thread…

The Friday night ratings for Seven News Sydney are really a cause for concern. Perhaps there’s just less people watching come the end of the week, but still, those numbers are pretty bad.

Seven’s 6pm & 6:30pm respective ratings on Friday night’s from February onwards:
Friday 05th February - 184k & 168k
Friday 12th February - 218k & 216k (note: the AO was on this night)
Friday 19th February - 217k & 217k (note: the AO was on this night)
Friday 26th February - 209k & 191k
Friday 05th March - 170k & 153k

So how do Seven fix the problem of poor Friday news ratings in Sydney?

Personally I believe that viewers don’t like the two newsreader format, and Seven should go back to just Usher solo on Fridays and Saturdays. Furthermore, it seems that viewers prefer Ferguson over Usher and Cox (Mark won on Tuesday night this week, and Sunday and Wednesday night the previous week), so perhaps they should adjust the roster to have Mark presenting Monday to Friday, and Michael & Angela (if she’s really needed) Saturday and Saturday?

With Sam Armytage leaving Sunrise, question is what exactly would she do when/if she comes back.

There’s no current affairs program, but for 7 News Spotlight, which is ad hoc.

The only other option i can think of is if 7 Sydney wanted to do a double header on weeknights as well. She could join Mark Ferguson. Granted she’d have to go back to 5 days a week, but it is 10 hours less on air per week and you do potentially get Thursday night to Sunday afternoon off.

News reading is how she started, and did quite well at. She also wouldn’t be giving her opinion, which many seem to find issue with.

Or she’ll run out her contract and move to Sky.

It’s such a shame because Sam was such a great Newsreader. However she has become far too opinated, and lost a lot of her work ethic.

Now there’s the key word - was.

Hard to believe now that Samantha Armytage was at one point a regular fill-in for Ian Ross on Seven News Sydney and prior to Chris Bath’s profile increasing again during the Late 2000s, was likely to succeed him in the main chair.

I reckon she’ll file a few rural/human interest stories to see out her contract, then sit back and write her columns and host her podcast for News Corp while helping Richard with the horses.
