And also just on Seven News Melbourne, can Peter Mitchell stop sitting so tightly and yell out the news in a robotic manner? It’s very sensationalist and annoying.

So are we all believing that Laurel is going, or do we think it could all be a hoax?
I just think it’s strange that we haven’t heard anything on any of her other social media channels, and that her account name on Instagram has been changed to something completely random. Also, from what I can see, there’s been nothing from Suburban Rail Loop Authority announcing Laurel’s appointment.
I also would’ve thought that she’d still have far in her journalism career to go, potentially a presenting role down the track.

I’m not saying she does - it’s just that a lot of media personalities tend to sync their social media accounts so that posts appear on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
Anyways I won’t comment any further on it for now.
Laurel is definitely leaving, adding to the flood of on-air and off-air employees to depart in the past 18 months. And there are more to come.

I can’t imagine the internal culture of Seven News Sydney being much better given the amount of senior, high profile talent the Martin Place newsroom has lost in recent years…

Laurel leaving Seven also explains why her name was excluded as a Seven News reporter for Seven’s Tokyo Olympics Coverage when announced a couple of weeks ago, after she was announced in the original line-up in 2020.
