I wouldn’t read into it too much.
7 News’ page was created in 2010, 9 News’ was opened in 2016 so Nine were just late to the party.

Whilst I’d agree that Fergo is not the best at breaking news/rolling coverage and Usher and Reason are better, he did do a good job covering the bushfires in New South Wales in late 2019:

I also think that we can’t put all the blame of Seven News Sydney’s ratings on Mark. There are many other factors too:
- Bulletin lead in: Clearly Hot Seat is the more popular game show at 5:00pm in Sydney
- Content & Reporters: Most would say that Nine News Sydney has better bulletin content, and a stronger team of reporters
- Even earlier lead-in: Tipping Point has been beating The Chase UK at 3:00pm, which has a flow on effect for the rest of the day (with Nine winning Sydney 4pm news)

To be fair, i think they are commonly confused with NBC Today by international audiences.

Busy day for Amber Laidler today, in addition to presenting the weather on the Morning News and Sydney Afternoon News, she also reported in Sydney on Sunrise this morning and read the news updates on The Morning Show.

Looks like Natalie Yoannidis is now reporting for Seven News Melbourne.
She just did a live cross on the 5pm bulletin from Altona Beach where a snorkeler has gone missing.
Looking at her Instagram, she only began at Ten News First in mid-January, so she wasn’t there for long. She has also been a reporter on Fox Sports.

Darren Wick may be willing to give him a second chance considering he’s also had issues with the law in recent months.
Yeah, I would not agree at all with Nine News Sydney deciding to give Peter Fegan a second chance if they were to go down that road.
There are (or at least should be) plenty of great reporters at other Sydney media outlets and at Nine stations interstate with unblemished records. Give one of them a chance before Peter Fegan, Darren & Simon!

I get your point but I don’t see a problem with it, he obviously made poor decisions which he clearly regrets but that shouldn’t mean everything should be thrown out the window.
If he was to to take a break and return at a new network, half the viewers probably wouldn’t even know who he is or remember what happened, so I don’t see it ruining anyones brand either.
I am sure that the HR departments at each network know worse things that have happened.
