Online article of the announcement:
Plus Tarsh was doing work for Seven anyway, was she not? So taking her on full-time won’t cost that much more.
And that would have been up to Melbourne anyway, surely? I think they’re just biding their time until Mitch goes, then Mike can move to weekdays. Bam, Mike and Bec reunited.
Not really the same thing though.

So inconsistent. What was wrong with 7NEWS at Noon?
This didn’t age well. lol
I see what you mean but I disagree. It was valid 24 hours ago. There wasn’t anything substantial at all about it then. Now there is. Ann said see you next year. There was nothing at all to indicate she was being replaced.
There was an article around September last year stating that Ann might be retiring, hence the speculation of a lot of members on here. It was warranted David.
Is she retiring?
Don’t believe so.
She might only now be doing Sydney Afternoon News.
Ann saying ‘see you next year’ turned out to be untrue for Melbourne devastated
Exactly.
So when Ann said see you next year that automatically makes that article incorrect and therefore should have ended the speculation.
It just so happens she is dropping her work load. That’s entirely different to what the article suggested.
The moment Ann said see you next year and didn’t get a farewell for retiring was the moment the speculation should have ended.
So this time yesterday when I posted that there was nothing substantial about the rumours.
Disagree David. Still completely warranted as this a new bulletin.
But she didn’t retire. The article said she was retiring. That didn’t happen. It didn’t mention she was dropping her workload so where did the speculation she wasn’t doing the midday bulletin come from? Nowhere.
Tarsh is great but what a bizarre appointment given all the recent cuts and the talent already sitting around the network. The branding remains awful too. Truly heinous.
You think people shouldn’t be appointed based on experience?
David. It’s okay mate. You got it wrong. Accept and move on.
Kind of shits in the face of Liam, Hugh, Tegan and Amber etc who’ve been doing some great fill in work and deserve a permanent role.
What exactly did I get wrong? What was announcemed today was pure coincidence. There was nothing since Ann’s last bulletin when she said SEE YOU NEXT YEAR that indicated she was being replaced. And how about you cease using my name in a condescending way. Cheers.
Not when they’re allegedly in cost cutting mode and have plenty of people already there. I’ve named 4 above.
I take your point but you could make a similar argument about linear TV that you have with newspapers.
At least by putting it in the paper (and it’s online too plus Sunday papers still hold some magnetism in the market) they get some promotion from audiences who may not be watching.
Obviously it doesn’t have to be one or the other and plugging it on WS/TMS wouldn’t hurt but likely to be low yield - significant amount of viewers probably already watched the morning news.
I wonder if Ann will still do the news updates on TMS. Unlikely Tarsh can do these due to her radio commitments.
