HSV7 sent Estelle Griepink over to Fiji to cover the incident with the Virgin Australia crew members.
Wouldn’t it have been the network? Don’t think local stations send reporters for national stories.
Laura Spurway presenting Melbourne sport this weekend.

Gertie Spurling is reading the news in Adelaide this weekend
HSV7 reporter, Bethan Yeoman is in Canberra reporting.
Where did that flight come from?
Mike Amor returns in Melbourne tonight, presenting weeknight bulletins with Karina Carvalho.
Wonder when they’ll announce Karina as Bec’s replacement on weekends.
Given how long she’s been doing it informally, maybe there’ll be no announcement and she’ll just quietly continue in the role?
Seems like the best option - doubt they will be able to mount an effective promotional campaign behind her given she hasn’t been there for very long, and I doubt Seven would resort to using footage from her various roles at the ABC to promote her journalistic credentials. Would also be hard to push the local connection angle as well.
An example: Can’t recall what ATV10 did with Helen Kapalos heading in to 2006, given relatively unknown and even if there were viewers who knew her nationally from Nine she was from Sydney and originally Newcastle. Also awkward with the Jennifer Hansen departure.
I’m sure Seven could come up with some promo for Karina, perhaps push that ‘now calls Melbourne home’ angle and go with her career experience, similar to the ‘20+ years’ Bec Maddern thing they’re running with.
What everyone’s thoughts on Mike and Karina chemistry together?
Mike doesn’t need a co-anchor just seems like excessive waste when their weekdays are solo anyway.
Mike did work well with Bec.
But I’m finding both Mike and Karina work better solo. I’m not sure there is really any chemistry with these two.
Interesting Daily Mail article about what 7 Brisbane pay their journo’s:
Rosie says $80-$90k which sounds similar to what I was told 7 and 9 pay (9 may even be just the award which is lower). Samantha the newsreader sounds like she fares a bit better
Jeez, even a social worker gets around 100k. No wonder everyone leaves to PR and comms.
Plus Samantha Heathwood only presents on the weekend.
