I think that is ludicrous speculation from Sharp. The only reason you’d ‘remove’ Brown is to save a little coin, but given he’s remaining with the network and held in high regard, it’s an odd claim. As for Bailey, he cannot do his whole shenanigans on radio can he? He’d jump at the chance.
That is what Morrison was referring to when he said ‘technical’ ways. I’m interested whether they will just base him at HSV so he can do his national role.
As much as I’d like this to happen, I doubt it will.
They like to show the presenters conversing at the end of the bulletin, so it will seem odd if it’s just Mark and Mel talking and David is not there.
Will be interesting to see who does the weather on the Morning News. Most likely Tony Auden or Jane Bunn from Monday to Thursday and Samantha Brett on Friday’s.
I think Angie will only do weather at 4pm and 6pm bulletins since she’s just returned back from maternity leave and will want to slowly build up her workload.
I wouldn’t be overly surprised if Tim Bailey joins Seven News Sydney next year.
Even though Angie and Sally are more credible and informative, a lot of viewers may like Bailey’s shenanigans.
Tim Bailey won’t leave Nine Radio for Seven News Sydney.
Ben Fordham took him on and gave him a chance after he was fired from 10. No man with morals would leave after only a few months after given such a reprieve.
Some might even call it a “dog move” if he did that.
Let’s not even forget to mention who’d be dumb enough to leave Nine for Seven at the moment? They’ve got the clear momentum. Owning television, radio and print. There’s more opportunity at Nine long term.
Agree, if Tim hypothetically was offered a job at Seven, I’m sure he’d take it since it’s more high paying and more exposure, but at the same time he’d be thankful for Ben Fordham giving him a job at 2GB.
I mentioned Bailey’s name as a joke. I don’t seriously think he’ll turn up at Seven. Can’t see Fergo or Mel interacting with him and indulging his hijinks in the same way the likes of Sandra and Ron Wilson did at Ten.
Especially since Seven News Sydney is also shown on Prime7 in several major markets of Regional NSW and the Gold Coast on weeknights. If on a Sunday-Thursday roster, you’d also get statewide exposure on the highest rating night of the week.
By contrast, I’m pretty sure 2GB breakfast with Ben Fordham is only heard in Sydney, since 4BC and 2CC have reverted to local brekky shows.
I agree that it’s fairly unlikely we’ll actually see Tim Bailey as the new main weather presenter on Seven News Sydney, but their current director Jason Morrison also has history at Ten News Sydney (being their chief of staff and for a brief time, editor during the Early-Mid 2000s) so it’s not a possibility I’d rule out from ever happening by any means.
Seven is 2nd in Sydney at the moment. As much as Brownie leaving is sad and getting Tim Bailey would be a joke, there’s no way they will go fifth in thr market.
Sunday 08th November -
Angie Asimus is back presenting 5pm news.
Pretty safe to say that Angie will do Sydney’s weather Sunday to Thursday and 5pm news on a Sunday, and Sally will do Sydney’s weather Friday to Saturday and 5pm news on a Saturday.
