Bring back Bec and/or Mike. They shouldn’t be allowed to both have leave at the same time (yes, I know that’s not entirely/always possible), but Blake isn’t up to scratch.

Have you ever thought that one of them might’ve been on leave and the other had something on last minute/in iso due to COVID?

No.
It seems like you don’t understand that these presenters have lives too and that sometimes things may pop up last minute. It’s not like they deliberate schedule them to be absent on the same day same time anyway.

Rebecca Maddern / Mike Amor combo for 6pm during the week? That could possibly explain why Blake Johnson presented this weekend in Melbourne?

And it seems you didn’t read my response to your remarks.
I think you’re reading too much into this @Tom_TV7. @NewsKing clearly didn’t mean to pry into their personal lives - he was just expressing that in his opinion Blake isn’t up to scratch and he wishes Bec and/or Mike were on. He never ruled out the possibility that there could be other reasons for their absences.

If this comment is anything to go by it sounds a bit more than just ‘wishes Bec and/or Mike were on’.
And by the way, I was just expressing my opinion as well so all is good.
How can anyone say Blake isn’t up to scratch. He’s filling in. He’s not expected to be Peter or Mike or Bec.
And even on that I think he’s great. Confident and fluent in his presentation. I actually prefer him over Dougal Beatty on Nine.

Yeh. That’s my point. You can’t expect fill ins to be as good as the star presenters. The main anchors are main anchors for a reason.
Blake stuffs up intros far too often, either because he hasn’t pre read or worse.
Anyway here’s hoping we only had to put up with him this weekend because Bec and Mike are on weeknights this week.
Who else would we suggest fills in for Bec & Mike? Blake has been Mike’s fill in for years now.
I haven’t seen much of Blake lately but he was the 4:30pm and weekend presenter in Perth for a while before he moved to Melbourne. I always thought he was a decent presenter so these comments are a little surprising.
