Seven News Content and Appearance

Sorry. I’ll be sure to coat my opinion in sugar next time, even though alot of people here seemed to agree.

Well that is how they’d say it in Kiwi land lol

omg

Seven Perth looking real good now :joy:

Bit more than lighting I think.

Wait what happened?

It’s a media forum. We don’t mean anything personal against Rob.

Is it just me or is he scaled too large for the desk?

His hands are off the end yes, and angled incorrectly too.

Would prefer a static real desk shot, similar the Media Watch’s Media Bites, to this distracting virtual one. Doesn’t even need the decorations that Media Watch has.

“we have the BBC News set at home!”
BBC News set at home:

Why is this being discussed in the Seven thread?

Presentation-wise, the faux-BBC News set is a bit overbearing, especially for the format. I would just do a simple set up - camera locked off shot of a desk with a radio mic on it. Lots of Youtubers do that for opinion vids and it looks fine.

it’s a 7 production

Oh. I was gonna say, the critiques were a bit harsh if it was just Rob in his garage. The fact that Seven has all the resources that it does and doesn’t know how to light talent with a greenscreen properly is worrying.

I’m interested to know where this is filmed.
The green screen needs to be improved a lot. Looks very out of proportion - especially how Rob is placed on the desk.
I hope this wasn’t the original intention about those rumours of Seven News Sydney coming from a virtual set

i’m surprised that Rob doesn’t do the pre-record on the proper Seven News set itself - after all, if they let the satire show on, why not this one?

Rob can probably confirm, but probably a location thing with where he is based. The video appears as though it may have been filmed using his own set-up I guess?

Yes, it was shot in my garage.

I think the commentary about the set has been a little OTT but I will work on fixing the issues. The original plan was to launch Monday but that was moved up and it was all a bit of a rush.

No excuses, just the facts.

Shooting on the 7NEWS set in Brisbane is probably an option and something to consider. Obviously, it works well for me being able to do it at home on the Gold Coast.

Outside of MS, feedback has been very positive and I’ve had contact from a surprising number of people who have reached out.

I will work on lighting, perspective over the weekend and hopefully improve the look - but content will always be of greater concern tbh.

That doesn’t surprise me.

Even the Gold Coast set would be an option if possible?

It’s hard shooting at home with lighting and green tinge it can’t be perfect i remember it well when I used to edit and do those mock ups. Was a bitch at times.

Yes, it’s a fantastic program.

I think content needs improvement too. It is made out like the content will be exclusive announcements. There was nothing new that hasn’t been reported elsewhere.

The Golden Bachelor host rumours is a prime example. If there is an announcement, say it. If not, why are we getting a rehashed a story from Blackbox? And then alluding to “I know who it is, but you’ll have to stay tuned” is off putting.

Is not necessarily exclusives but commentary too.

The bachelor wasn’t a rehash, I specifically said Sonia is not the host and but I get what you’re saying about not giving the detail on who it is.

There’s a reason for that but I hear you.

I’ll be giving my views about media topics like I did on tvbb (the mad men blackface is a perfect example).

If it’s not your cup of tea that’s fair enough though.
