And now we are receiving our bulletin as normal
No “starts now” on Seven News Melbourne, and titlecard as @Leo_Puglisi6 mentioned.
No 7News titlecard though
It seemed like a much smoother transition from headlines to opening story with those edits though!
Gfx system crashed I have heard…. Not sure if true
Here’s a look at that backdrop with the set. After this opening shot, the set wasn’t seen again during the broadcast.
In Queensland the first live Olympic report was about 4 minutes after Sydney’s. There were also live reports to Southbank and the Gold Coast viewing sites early in the bulletin. Sport was a series of pre-records.
OTS fakery exposed by an elbow!
(Yes, I know it’s a graphic overlay)
If the lighting at the top of the set was changed to a soft white, and the graphics on the screen and desk were updated to white this would look so much better.
Might be what they we’re aiming for when they replaced the main screens earlier this year. They had to replace the frame surrounds to fit the new screens anyway and they also knew a relaunch would be coming so they designed the new frames in anticipation of the planned relaunch.
Shame they didn’t also design a new set piece to cover the base of the standing screen’s support frame, but I guess it still matches the desk.
Unable to get caps of it right now, but new promos debuted in Perth last night that feature the three-note piano jingle of ‘The Mission’ which debuted a few months back in other States. The Presenter title-cards remain the same currently. One of them takes a different approach instead of the ‘Know the News’ tagline.
People keep saying new frames- I think they just removed the original bulky frame and what was underneath holding that frame is what is seen on air now.
It’s a very nice static sunset image. But what’s the point of a set and plasmas if you don’t use them. That’s why I prefer live shots.
Watch the set construction timelapse from when they originally built the set. The video walls were full units and the set was then built around them. And they had to support four separate screens as one.
When the new screens were installed they would’ve required a completely new support structure because you’re going from a standing unit that holds four screens to a single stand that supports one big screen (the red part behind the screens). The decorative frames are also brand new; the old ones were fixed directly to the video walls. The only thing they seem to have kept was the set piece that sat beneath the secondary screen.
Yesterday in Melbourne, a story was aired in the 6pm bulletin concerning a certain “controversial businesswoman”.
Funnily enough on Nine, this story was covered by A Current Affair - I don’t think this warranted attention on Nine News.

Certainly shows that Seven are putting like Today Tonight content in their main bulletins even though resources could be diverted elsewhere.
TV Tonight
Knoxy would be delighted.
Knoxy would be delighted.
The issues with late-night posting on MediaSpy…
Certainly not what I meant, and I’ve fixed my embarrassing (but funny) blunder now
But hey, both TVTonight and Today Tonight have “tonight” in their name
This is exactly what should be on the news, people taking advantage of others and making out to be the victim. The more the networks do this the more people will think before they act
