I think those shots of Bec might be from nearly 16 years ago, the aftermath of Black Saturday in February 2009, Australia’s worst peace time disaster with upwards of 200 people killed in regional Victoria.
Nine also used similar footage for Tom Steinfort and Alicia Loxley during their much publicised promotion campaign a year ago.

Due to an earlier rain delay, the cricket will be extended until 6.16pm (at the earliest). I wonder if that means the news will be delayed in Sydney and Melbourne.
If Australia bowl India out, I doubt they will cut away to the news whilst Konstas is batting.

Reckon they’ll keep the cricket audience and hope some people stick around for the news. Gives 9 a free shot at getting the 6pm news viewers though.

Last year three days of the Boxing Day test were extended past 6pm on the main channel - day one the news didn’t start until after 7pm AEDT. Day three was extended by 30 minutes on the main channel. Day 4 was extended by 20 minutes (the the conclusion of the test).

I also found it odd they focussed on general news reporting/ major events rather than specifically sports, which is the field she is now going (back) to.
Obviously difficult as most of that CV was when she was at Nine. Seven also meticulously in media releases just mention ‘hosted/covered sport events’ or something, rather than reference “Nine” or “Australian Open” or “Ashes”.
I think the only moment in the promo I saw in terms of sport with her was a couple of seconds of her at the MCG following this year’s Grand Final when they crossed to her live.
Bec was part of HSV-7 productions in the past prior to Nine though, such as the tennis and Melbourne Cup including when Seven used to do the AFL GF Parade and Melbourne Cup Parade. Could they not have found footage from then? As well as the likes of the RCH Good Friday Appeals.

It was reported on TV Tonight a few weeks ago :
A Seven News spokesperson told TV Tonight, “During the holiday, non-ratings period some segments will take a breather as we take a look at how they could come back next year. ….We’re really proud of how we’re trialing new things and will continue to do so in 2025.”
