Is that any different to the usual one? Looks the same to me.
First time I’ve seen it in Brisbane - full length advert played inside a box with multiple headlines
The “major investigation” didn’t seem to involve a lot of investigating tonight. It was based on a just released book. Standing presentation by Samantha Heathwood.
Sydney does it all the time.
The promo said exclusive, not investigation.
The attempt was unsuccessful last night with the bulletin posting its lowest Monday rating of the year averaging 156,000 across the hour with just 150k for the 6.30 segment. Nine averaged 173,000 for the hour. Perhaps their “major” story was more interesting.
4pm News from the GC studio in Queensland this afternoon - using the “old” backdrop. Looks nicer than the cluttered Brisbane one.
Some weather as well.
Monday:
I agree, either use the Gold Coast backdrop or the 6pm Brisbane one for afternoon news. The current one is one of the ugliest backdrops I have seen, even Nine’s is better.
Sydney and Melbourne have been doing this for I reckon 3 years. It’s not really new. It’s a way of extending commercial breaks in a sense but it’s not regulated because it’s in program.
A nice loophole that was found.
I’m surprised that Brisbane have taken this long to do it
They usually go for months without doing the inbreak graphics and then they start doing it again. Well that’s what i have found in Sydney anyway and I am sure i have seen it in Brisbane as well. It’s like for at least 6 months Coles had a segment during the first or second break that went for virtually the full break. I believe it was contra due to the sponsorship they paid for MKR but it didn’t rate.
Melbourne haven’t stopped since it was introduced if I remember correctly. That’s probably due to Nine also running it all the time.
Breaking News opener in Queensland tonight. The images were from social media of a hail storm near Warwick. The vision, however, played for slightly too long after which Max was seen using a mouse on the desk before throwing to Paul Burt.
The sponsored segment with headlines didn’t run again tonight. It was back to their usual add.
So what’s the point of this…? Do they need someone younger?
Do they think Adelaide viewers don’t remember how badly they treated his father?
Couldn’t hurt, the presenters/reporters for Nine News here are mostly younger people, while 7 have more senior reporters and presenters, purely speculation/personal opinion here but someone much younger at the desk is a welcomed change.
For those of us who aren’t from Adelaide. Who is he and who was his father? Haha
Will Goodings was the last local sports presenter for 10 News First here in Adelaide. His father is Graeme Goodings who presented Seven News for a number of years, weeknights and weekends. He was given the flick by management in 2013 (IIRC) in favour of Jessica Adamson who at the time was a senior reporter.
