“Coming Soon”

###Chicago Fire - Season 4

SHAKEUPS STIR THINGS UP AT FIREHOUSE 51 ON THE SEASON FOUR PREMIERE

###Code Black

Inspired by the award-winning documentary by Ryan McGarry, “Code Black” is a heart-pounding medical drama that takes place in the busiest ER in the nation, where the staggering influx of patients can outweigh the limited resources available to the extraordinary doctors and nurses whose job is to treat them all – creating a condition known as Code Black.

At the heart of the ER’s controlled chaos is Residency Director Dr. Leanne Rorish (Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden), renowned for successfully performing high-risk procedures in Center Stage, the trauma area reserved for the most critical cases. Her four new first-year residents are Christa Lorenson (Bonnie Somerville), Malaya Pineda (Melanie Kannokada), Mario Savetti (Benjamin Hollingsworth) and Angus Leighton (Harry M. Ford). Leanne’s confidante, Jesse Sallander (Luis Guzman), is an amiable seen-it-all senior nurse who manages the residents. Also working in the ER is Dr. Neal Hudson (Raza Jaffrey), an excellent physician who sometimes disagrees with Leanne’s “cowboy” approach, and Dr. Rollie Guthrie (William Allen Young), the energetic, longest-serving attending.

In Center Stage, life is measured in seconds, and these heroic doctors and nurses operate with speed and skill within an overwhelmed system to treat the crowds of people who are often there for one of two reasons: to die or to receive a life-saving miracle.

Wow! Seven are only just showing Season 3 now?
It aired in the UK way back in January/February 2013!

Seven would have already shown it. Must be repeats? Plus the new specials.

Read a good article in The Age green guide the other day, about the Seven Neteork’s Head of Factual Programming Lyndal Marks.

She said “we have some of the longest-running & most popular factuals on Australian TV, with dedicated teams in Melbourne, Sydney & Auckland* working hard every year to produce quality content that viewers love”.

She also said her job erves as Executive Producer of all the factuals that air on Ch 7, with various roles.

NB/
New episodes of Highway Patrol, Border Security, The Force & Surveillance Oz are currently airing (but will be on a 2 week hiatus during the Olympics).

*Greenstone TV is the production company of “Highway Patrol” (which is based in New Zealand), even though the show is filmed across VIC.

Of interest, Greenstone was acquired by CJZ a couple of years ago, so it’s now Australian owned.

I would have been very surprised if First Dales and Seven Year Switch didn’t return.

I wonder if seven will look at screening something new in May next year. Seven have probably been the most successful this year in terms of new shows and the new shows they launched were winners in the demos which is uncommon for seven. They would probably be wise launching First Dates in May to compete with Masterchef.

Has anybody thought before, that Ch 7’s factuals are part of the winning formula?

Highway Patrol + Border Security + Surveillance Oz + Beach Cops?

All rate well & two of which have been on-air for many years.

2016 Highway: average ~800k
2016 Border: average ~700k+

Great to see

Its cheap but barely the buzz worthy shows networks want to create and program. Seven drop it as soon as they have a show that creates headlines.

According to promos aired this week, Code Black will premiere after the Rio Olympics. It has already been renewed for a second season. Season 1 has 18 episodes so Seven may have to show double episodes on some weeks if it is to finish by the end of this year.

Is 7 Flix ever going to air in regional areas?

Seven Queensland have carried 7Flix from launch. Prime7 are probably waiting to move playout to MediaHub before broadcasting 7Flix.

7 Gold Coast will have a different line-up to the rest of the east coast. Instead of The Chase at 5pm there is “Seven News at 4” at 5pm followed by “Seven Gold Coast News” at 5.30pm. And to totally confuse viewers this is just on LCN 7. 7HD on 70 is currently listed with the Brisbane schedule with The Chase from 5-6. The Chase will also be shown on 7Prime.

I’m guessing that the lack of a HD feed for Seven Gold Coast to accommodate for the 5.30pm local news is probably another reason why they usually run 7mateHD. Makes sense from a technical viewpoint, but frustrating from a viewer perspective!

New promo aired at the end of Seven News in Melbourne, revealing programs starting after the Rio Olympics, including Zumbo’s Just Desserts, 800 Words, The Secret Daughter etc. There is a new show: Australia’s Cheapest Weddings.
