So Seven think the Coronation will rate enough to move Seven News Perth to 4pm and prioritie the special event rolling coverage at 6pm local, but not enough as to shift the AFL in say Melbourne (which they have done before for at least one or two Royals and events like Olympics). The network has had a lot of success over the years with Royals, so can’t blame them.

Also, when the current season of The Good Doctor finishes, I wonder which show will take over its Tuesday timeslot?
Considering the game features an interstate team, I’m surprised Seven are prioritising the AFL over the Coronation on the main channel in Melbourne.

They took a punt with this strategy during the Birmingham Comm Games, obviously forecasting much lower numbers than the Tokyo Olympics and it paid off, they were proven right. Looks like the same thinking again, but will they be correct this time…

A show that has been rating well does not move networks without a very good reason.

How would this affect the distribution deals?
It won’t affect any distribution deal for international broadcasters such as Seven.

The editing on this special is so jarring. Way too many cutaways to the audience and in general too many cuts to allow us to focus on the magic.
Also the Cosentino documentary cutaways are lame and just fill time.
The production crew should take note of Penn and Teller: Fool Us is shot for future specials. Or better yet go full Masked Magician style - increase the creepiness and cut the live audience element altogether.
It’s disappointing because Cosentino is brilliant talent.
