If you think about how to schedule 90 minutes at 9:45pm and which order of programs will give more viewers across the timeslot for the network.
If The Latest starts at 9:45 it will probably get similar flow on numbers that World’s Most Shocking gets at that time. However, those viewers are watching the network for just 30 minutes if that - given that a news bulletin doesn’t really require you to watch the whole program. Then, how many are going to stay on after a news bulletin to watch World’s Most Shocking?
But if The Latest is scheduled second, not only has the audience been coaxed to watch an hour of cheap content, there might be some incentive to stay on to see some news as well.
In the age of 25 channels and a billion streaming options I can’t imagine anyone sitting through 60 minutes of a show they don’t really want to watch to wait for what comes after it
Considering 7s brand is so heavily based on news - It’s much better to put your original news show that defines your brand rather than a cheap nothing YouTube like show that can land anywhere.
I guess they have some strategy behind it. It seems short sighted to me

11:00 PM TBA
TBA continues to be popular with Seven programmers, so pretty sure it will get renewed. Have to wait for the Seven Up Fronts later in the week to find out.
So? Just pick an old movie and run with it.
Surely having for example “Movie: Sister Act 2 (Rpt)” in the weekly guides would get more viewers than “TBA”
@TV.Cynic Is there any reason why Seven never schedule The Latest on time on Thursday nights (due to The Front Bar running overtime)?
For example, tonight The Latest was scheduled to start at 10pm however it really didn’t start until 10:25pm.
Is this done on purpose, if so what’s the reasoning behind it?
Surely they’d figure out after six months that The Front Bar always runs 15-20 mins late and they’d schedule The Latest appropriately instead of scheduling it earlier than it ends up airing.
