Seven Network - Programs and Schedules (2015-Apr 2025)

Is The Latest?

It probably won’t rate any better than Absentia but for those of us wanting news, we wouldn’t have to wait. Plus, The Latest rates better earlier than later (obviously), so why put all the effort in to a bulletin that rates lower? And it will be around longer (hopefully) than Absentia.

Ten’s Late News used to air at 10:30pm or later, Fridays often 11:30pm. And that was when FTA was rating high.

It often aired at midnight on weekends, back when there was money in television.

Back more on topic, interesting to see 1941 film The Maltese Falcon on Seven this (Sunday) afternoon.

You can always watch Nine Late News at 10:40pm, ABC Late News at 10:30pm or SBS’s Late bulletin also at 10:30pm or switch on ABC News channel. It’s getting to be a very crowded marketplace.

Could’ve been a good chance for Seven to show the Western Bulldogs vs GWS game into the main channel in Sydney, but was not likely to rate well (they did this with the Sydney vs Hawthorn game last year which went H2H with the women’s Origin on Nine, and lost).

Likewise Seven Brisbane could’ve gone with putting the Brisbane vs West Coast game on the main channel.

10pm is much better thanks

In an interview with The Australian today, Angus Ross said that Big Brother is:

"…the first stage of James [Warburton] pivoting to make Seven a more outward-focused company in terms of our commissions and a move towards more established and proven formats, rather than being an organisation trying to create your own, which is a pretty high-risk business, ends in a lot of tears and can take years off your life”

Don’t understand why it needs to be an either/or decision though. Angus seems to be forgetting that Seven’s biggest show last decade (MKR) was a original format

Probably not the worst idea. Most of Nine/10’s successes in recent years have come from proven formats (Survivor, MAFS, Masterchef, Masked Singer, Lego Masters). Seven’s in-house productions worked well for its time but they ran out of steam and the ratings suggest that these shows are most likely finished.

Correct. Part of 7s successes over the last two decades is that it has its own production arm, which has been very successful over the years.

9-1-1: Lone Star

Coming Soon

Nearly 20 years ago, Owen Strand (Emmy® Award nominee Rob Lowe, Parks and Recreation, The West Wing) was the lone survivor of his Manhattan firehouse on 9/11. In the wake of the attack, Owen had the unenviable task of rebuilding his station. After a similar tragedy happens to a firehouse in Austin, Owen, along with his troubled firefighter son, T.K. (Ronen Rubenstein, Dead of Summer), takes his progressive philosophies of life and firefighting down to Texas, where he helps them start anew. On the surface, Owen is all about big-city style and swagger, but underneath he struggles with a secret he hides from the world – one that could very well end his life.

Once in Austin, Owen meets the brilliant and wry chief paramedic Michelle Blake (Liv Tyler, The Leftovers), as well as police officer Carlos Reyes (newcomer Rafael Silva). He then begins to assemble his new team of diverse and qualified candidates for Firehouse 126, including Marjan Marwani (Natacha Karam, The Brave), an adrenalin junkie and badass firefighter who also is a devout Muslim; Paul Strickland (Brian Michael Smith, Queen Sugar), a transgender male firefighter, who bravely decided to transition on the job in Chicago and has a gift for observation worthy of Sherlock Holmes; and rookie firefighter Mateo Chavez (Julian Works, American Crime).

Owen’s toughest challenge may be Judd Ryder (Jim Parrack, The Deuce, True Blood), who, like Owen, was the sole survivor of the original 126 house after a rescue call ended in tragedy. A gruff cowboy to his core, Judd is married to Grace (Sierra McClain, Mindhunter), a 9-1-1 call center operator, and struggles with PTSD, unsure if he ever can be the firefighter he once was.

I think until Nine drop Saturday ACA (if that even happens), Seven will try to counter-program with a 30min program (rather than start a 2hr+ movie).

I see that Nine are now running a ‘factual’ at 7:30pm possibly in response to 10’s The Dog House doing well.

Didn’t they already try Taronga in that slot earlier in the year? Should have kept it there.

What a riveting timeslot for Kochie’s Business Show… lol

I don’t get it. Repeats of a US drama at 10 when other nights they are happy to air the latest at 9 or 10.

During yesterday’s AFL coverage relaunch, Seven revealed that Between Two Worlds would air on Monday nights, and The All New Monty: Guys and Gals on Tuesday nights, after Big Brother. Farmer Wants a Wife and then Plate of Origin will air on 7.30pm on Sunday-Tuesday after BB finishes.
