Seven Cricket Coverage

You’d make a better Mrs Brown than you would a cricketer, I’ll say that.

Can’t bat, can’t bowl, can’t throw.

The only thing i can catch is a cold.

Much like the media.

Riveting stuff

And promising more cricket after the break.

Weird strategy they’ve gone with here

Maybe they’re following the Triple M/SEN model, lower ratings but bigger $$$$ because it’s “sport”.

Yes the two new episodes only just aired in UK and will be played soon but what are the countless other episodes. Everything before that Seven have aired.

They’re giving the “pre-match segment” to a whole new level now. 2 hours and 10 minutes worth.

Could be due to a contractual obligation to Cricket Australia?

I wouldn’t be following either of those two…

MMM because its SCA.
SEN because its Hutchy.

I’m having a singalong while I’m waiting for my Thunder to play, and building a new music video channel for my Plex server in the process. Seven should do that.

Probably needed to keep the cricket vibe going to ensure there was some base for the late BBL game - go to a Border Security rerun or (shudder) Mrs Browns Boys and people might assume that there’s no more cricket to come.

This is true. Though the 90min of talking heads and Boxing D4 highlights probably only averaged a couple of hundred thousand total if that, BH&G Summer would’ve surely done significantly higher. But yes might’ve impacted flow and exposure for the later BBL game.

Simon Taufel finally at the ground! Took 7 years to make an actual physical in studio appearance :joy: (unless he’s done that before & I didn’t see)

It was also a good segment on DRS & Virtual eye using the incorrect hitting zone for the series and how ICC should check with the technology providers that they are using the updated playing conditions etc

Rain forecast in Hobart this evening, being a Sunday too and no later game, wonder if Seven have any back ups lined-up? Perth schedule is Spotlight, Force and Bullet Train movie repeats.

According to Alison Mitchell, yesterdays S3 bettered the Boxing Day test ratings

knocked it out of the park

The Way Jane McGrath Day’s going, with Steve Smith eyeing 5 More Runs for his 10,000th in Test and 162 the Target, looks like Tomorrow & Tuesday’s Daytime Schedule will return to Normal. Chase Repeats anyone?

Think 7 have suffered a tad in comparison with Fox due to their choice of opposition commentator this season in that they went for the household name, all-time legend who has unfortunately gotten less insightful and analytical as the years wear on. Gavaskar is 75 years old and has struggled not to come across as a cantankerous old man yelling at cloud at times during this series. I am also certain that Gavaskar was significantly better during the last series four years ago. 7 had the same problem when they employed Lord Botham for the 2021/22 Ashes and hope that they don’t make the same mistake next year.

For the Ashes they should go with Westbury. She’s been good on MMM. They already have Alison Mitchell too

Westbury did the last women’s Ashes but for this years women’s Ashes it’s Alex Hartley

Seven will quietly not be happy with 2.5 days lost, once again. Also erasing that 6pm lead-in. And a Sunday. Plus BOM suggesting 50% chance of rain for tonight’s Hobart BBL, up to 90% from 8pm edt.

update

7Plus EPG updated live, saying Surveillance Oz from 3pm. This is indeed what has commenced. Unknown what the fillers are after that, possibly more factuals or BH&G, especially non-edt markets.

7Cricket test ender right before that:

Showed a montage of the series, including the presentations half an hour ago.
