Seven Cricket Coverage

Correct. Sky have been taking it to keep the continuity for the whole tournament, plus the fact that Fox’s is made for the Sky ad-break system.

I’d say that CA will employ a company to run it so that there is not the difference between matches. You need the consistency across the whole tournament.

That’s what I was thinking.

It makes sense for Mens international to have what Fox uses since they are the host broadcaster.

And for women’s internationals to have what 7 uses since they are host broadcaster

BBL is confusing with 7 being host broadcaster but Fox having exclusive games. It makes no sense to have Hawkeye & Ultra Edge for like 70% & then having Virtual Eye & RTS for the rest

In that case, I could see Seven being the one to walk away again, as that’s essentially what happened last time after they didn’t/couldn’t match Nine’s eye watering $300m. So maybe we’re set with the current arrangement for a while yet.

I’m pretty sure (and someone please correct me if I’m wrong) it was simply a case of Nine significantly outbidding Seven for the rights rather than Seven having an opportunity to match/exceed Nine’s offer but refusing to do so.

In regards to your second point, the situation will be different the next time the AO rights come up to tender considering Seven were likely surprised by Nine bidding on the rights considering they had them for four decades - that element of surprise is gone now.

In the final commercial break in 7News Brisbane tonight (6.55pm), they crossed to Abbey and Rocky Ponting at the cricket to do a preview/promo for the game “coming up at 7 on 7.” They were on the field and the game had not started. Quick flick over to 7Mate and the game was well underway.
Just stupid 7. Echoes of 9’s “chopper gate” from a few years ago.

Probably an extreme reaction to a prerecorded promo.

After being thumped by Perth Scorchers by 48 runs in the BBL Qualifier at Marvel Stadium last night, Sydney Sixers will play the winner of tonight’s Knockout at the SCG on Australia Day (Wednesday) at 7.15pm local time.

The final will be held at Marvel next Friday (time TBC).

Haha yeah. Autocorrect strikes again.

Not extreme, just pointing out its claiming to be something it’s not. And tired of the way 7 mismanages the whole issue of daylight saving time differences for Qld audiences.

Comparing it to choppergate though…

According to advanced guides, the ODI matches in the Women’s Ashes (February 3, 6 and 8) will be sharing multichannels with Beijing Winter Olympics coverage. In some states, the cricket will be on 7mate and the Olympics on 7TWO; in others the cricket will be on 7TWO and the Olympics on 7mate.

Well that won’t be confusing at all lol esp when 7 will no doubt also be advertising times in AEDT in all markets.

The summer of cricket continues live and free on Seven

Women’s Ashes, Australia v England Test Match tomorrow 09.25 AEDT on 7

Our nation’s most-loved sporting side, the Australian women’s cricket team, will continue its quest to secure the Ashes, live and free on the Seven Network tomorrow, when they take on England in a blockbuster Test at Canberra’s Manuka Oval.

Over the next four days on Channel 7, the Aussies led by Meg Lanning, Ellyse Perry and Alyssa Healy will battle for an indisputable six-point lead over England, to secure the ultimate prize. Only six points remain on offer after this Test in the three-match ODI series.

Seven’s coverage will again be led by cricket’s #1 commentary team, which for the Women’s Ashes features Alison Mitchell, Alister Nicholson and Andy Maher in lead commentary, with experts Lisa Sthalekar, Holly Ferling, Kirby Short, Emma Inglis, Brad Hodge, Trent Copeland and Isabella Westbury.

The action kicks off at 10.00am AEDT tomorrow on Channel 7, following Seven’s pre-game coverage at 9.25am AEDT.

Former Australian women’s captain Lisa Sthalekar, who enjoyed a stellar international career from 2001 to 2013, is anticipating an exciting finish to the series.

“England is a side that believes it can beat Australia. Its players know they can compete against the best and Australia is the best at the moment,” she said.

“There is so much at stake, not only for each team but also the individual players in each squad. The Test in among this Ashes series is one that the players lift for. It is a chance as a team and as an individual to create lasting memories in the hardest format.”

Managing Director Seven Melbourne and Head of Network Sport, Lewis Martin, said: “There’s no better way to celebrate Australia’s most popular sporting team, our national women’s cricket team, than live and free on Seven. The Test against England, following last week’s T20 matches, is bound to be a great contest.

“There is still so much to enjoy during Seven’s summer of cricket, with the thrilling women’s Ashes series and the explosive Big Bash League finals.”
