Coverage has ended for now at 4:05 AEDT, national afternoon news airing now.
Instead of news, Brisbane went with The Chase that didn’t have time to finish with the test now back on from 4:45
Test finishes at 5:30 PM AEDT.
The Chase Australia airs in NSW, Vic, SA.
Brisbane has Border Security: America’s Front Line , strangely not going with the news bulletin that aired earlier in other states.
I understand people’s gripes with Fleming generally but I do love when he takes an in depth look at bowling actions during tests. They provide something unique, or at least he delivers it in a way not many can
Alister Nicholson has had a busy day. Commentating at both the test match and tonight @ the BBL game at North Sydney Oval between Sixers & Heat
This was because Tim Lane has been ill, so Alister Nicholson filled in for him before doing the bbl tonight.
Did the local 7 feed cut to the wicket timer (for the next batsman) at that wicket or was it just the world feed they’re sending out?
Did Nicholson continue to fill in today or was Tim Lane back?
Another rain delay sees back up programming again this afternoon. The Chase in most plus Highway Patrol in Brisbane.
Nicholson did commentate today as well
Seven calling tonight’s BBL clash between Strikers and Hurricanes from Melbourne. Lisa Sthalekar and Brad Hodge doing play by play with Sixers captain Moises Henriques providing special comments.
Ball hit along the ground towards the boundary and no camera followed it until it was about 2m from the rope.
The commentators?
As expected, they had NFI bumbling and stumbling until, “THERE IT IS!”
Absolutely pathetic, Ch7.
It’s not just 7, it’s both been. Both are pathetic. Both should be at the ground
Do they not have anyone to do play by play? Richardson? Maher?
Unfortunately we’ll be seeing less and less coverage from the ground. According to Ray Hadley it’s easier and better calling from the studio and nearly all commentators agree.
But the quality more often than not really detracts.
No way commentators - who are human beings, in case ya’ll forgot - will willingly return to the hectic travel arrangements of yesteryear when Andrew’s Hub is up and running well enough.
That and the lack of costs for that travel are a massive saving.
Hope Hadley was just referring to Rugby League, which would be relatively easy to call off a TV as the entire field is comparatively small compared to say, AFL and cricket, so easier for the cameras to follow the action.
I just struggle to have any sympathy for commentators on lucrative contracts complaining about having to travel, or broadcasters who after winning the rights, think the best way to promote the sport is to dumb it down.
And their commentators do sound stupid when they haven’t a clue where the ball is or where it’s going.
Looks like Lisa Sthalekar is play by play tonight, I’d say they are warming her into the role.
She actually needs to call some more ‘play’ instead of bantering with the other commentators.
When they came back to the start of the Strikers’ innings, they had a quick preview of the “Sydney Showdown but the screen went to a basic breakdown screen.
Since then, the ticker hasn’t shown up and Lisa keeps apologising.
