Seven AFL Coverage (2016-24 seasons)

Some rounds they have Sunday games and some rounds they miss out, thus Seven has an average of 3.5 games on FTA per week.

Changes every week. Basically foxtel had 5 saturday games fraturing adelaide teams. They had to broadcast delayed even though they were outside SA. It was also ij that agreement that those games would be swapped for the saturday night games. Although this hasn’t happened every time. Its a confusing deal that affects the viewers.

Yeah, noticed comments on social media from angry Adelaide viewers, how they were receiving Cinderella instead of footy.

I tihnk Seven needs to change their Saturday Night team. Jason Bennett is a better fit than Basil, have him and Darcy do Saruday Nights instead of Basil.

Basil is useless regardless of the time slot.

I wish Fox Footy could have their own commentators on ththe Seven games as the coverage on Seven is generally lousy.

I believe Fox have the option of producing the game themselves and running their own commentators but for some reason they don’t. Possibly cost saving.

I’ve noticed that this is what Fox League do in the NRL. They take nothing from channel 9’s coverage and even have their own on screen graphics.

I would’ve thought the opppsite?

Seven’s cant be touched.

Fox’s can’t be touched.

Hence why they’re literally simulcasts.

Agree. Originally it was discussed as an option when the rights were being negotiated but it was decided that the host network commentary would be required to be used regardless of the who is broadcasting.

If you could press a button to change commentary on Fox…

That’d get even more viewers!

$$$$$$ for News Corp & Telstra

Jason Bennett to replace Luke Darcy for me as a Commentator on the Saturday Night Team.

I remember they tried “Press Red for Ed” to get a Collingwood biased call of a few of their games a few years ago.

Hawks and Swans launch Multicultural Round

The Hawks and the Swans kick off Multicultural Round at the MCG on Friday Night Football when they play for the beyondblue cup. The Swans are charging towards September, while the Hawks will be aiming to repeat their Round 10 victory as they cling to finals hopes.

Before the bounce we catch up with Swans skipper Josh Kennedy and his family ahead of his 200th game. At halftime, beyondblue chairwoman Julia Gillard joins Hamish McLachlan live to discuss her new role at the organisation.
Carlton host Geelong at Etihad Stadium on Saturday Night Footy with hopes of repeating last year’s upset and taking down one of the competition’s toughest competitors. New Cat Zach Tuohy faces his former side for the first time since being traded last year.

On The Kick, Carlton midfielder Patrick Cripps joins the team live at the desk while at halftime we hear from the Blues’ five rising star nominees.

On Sunday Football, the Crows head east to meet with the Magpies at the MCG. For Adelaide, it’s both a must-win match and a chance to get its last look at the MCG prior to the 2017 finals.

Adelaide young gun Jake Kelly talks about turning his AFL career around after not getting a game last season due to the strength of the Crows’ defensive side, despite having debuted in 2015.

Thats interesting, the Sunday game coverage in Melbourne now starting at 2.30pm.
I thought it started at 3pm… ??
Is that a one off for some reason?

Seven’s Sunday AFL coverage always starts at 2.30pm AEST with the soapbox segment and a big preview for the 3.20pm game.

Seems like a big build up just for a Sunday Afternoon game.

It’s no different to the Friday night game with a 30-minute preview (Telstra Countdown) at 7pm AEST on 7mate.

And that Nine also have a 30 min preview for NRL games on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons.

JAson Bennett told during the start of 2nd half that Virgin Airways have given people some tickets to HK. Does it meant to be Virgin Australia?

According to a Sunday Herald Sun article on Eddie McGuire’s return to the Footy Show, his production company JAM TV Australia produces Talking Footy and The Kick (Saturday night preview show) for Seven.
The paper also says Tim Watson and Wayne Carey (both a part of Seven’s coverage) will coach Victoria and All-Stars respectively in the EJ Whitten Legends Game on September 1.
